If Download to console is missing in the Xbox mobile app, first check that you’re signed in with the account that owns or can access the game and that your Xbox console is added to the app. Then check the console’s remote features and power settings, and verify that the game is available to that account and region. The menu labels and exact button placement can vary; the steps below separate official Microsoft guidance from a community troubleshooting suggestion.
Make sure you’re using the Xbox mobile app
Xbox describes remote game installation to a console as a feature of the Xbox mobile app. Its Xbox on Mobile page describes managing a library and remotely installing games to a console. This guide covers installing to an Xbox console, not remotely installing a game to a Windows PC.

Check the account and add the console in the app
- Sign in to the Xbox app with the Microsoft account that owns the digital game or otherwise has access to it.
- Check whether the intended Xbox is connected. A Microsoft Community answer suggests opening the console icon in the app and using its setup or add-console flow if the device is not listed. The answer was posted by an Independent Advisor; treat these as community troubleshooting steps, not a guarantee of the current app layout. See the Community response.
- Open the game from the app’s library and check its listing for the console-download option. The Community response describes this route, but exact labels or locations may differ in the current app.
Enable remote access and check the console’s power setting
The same Independent Advisor response recommends checking the console settings below. Xbox’s current menu wording could not be confirmed from the accessible official support page, so use these as suggested paths rather than guaranteed labels:
Recommended Free Tools
- On the console, go to Settings > Devices & connections > Remote features and enable remote features.
- Go to Settings > General > Power options and select Sleep, as the Community response recommends.
If the menu names differ on your console, look for the console’s Remote features and Power options settings rather than assuming a particular alternate path. Xbox’s dedicated remote-install support page names Xbox One, but its instructions were not accessible in full and do not establish that every step applies unchanged to Xbox Series X|S.

Confirm that the game is available to your account
Open the game’s Microsoft Store or Xbox library listing while signed in to the account you checked above. Microsoft’s general Microsoft Store download guidance identifies several reasons an install option may be unavailable: regional restrictions, a listing that has been removed, device incompatibility, or missing account authorization. These are useful checks, but the guidance does not specify every Xbox remote-install eligibility rule or establish which one, if any, explains a missing button.
If you bought the game digitally, Microsoft says you can look for the purchase in your account’s Order history. A purchase record can help you confirm which account to use; it does not by itself establish that remote installation is currently available for that title.

Check which Xbox the app is targeting
If you have more than one console, verify that the app is connected to the one you want. Microsoft documents naming a console at Settings > System > Console info > Name in its device-management guidance. Giving consoles distinct names can make it easier to identify the intended device in account or app listings.

- Confirm the app is signed in to the account with access to the game.
- Confirm the intended console has been added or connected in the app.
- Check the console’s Remote features and Power options settings; the paths above come from a Community response and may not match current menu wording exactly.
- Check the game listing and account for availability or authorization issues.
- Distinguish the target console from any other Xbox associated with your account.
Microsoft’s Xbox Series X|S manual lists internet access and a Microsoft account/Xbox profile as baseline requirements for initial online setup and downloads. It is an older manual, so those requirements do not diagnose why this particular app control is absent. The available official sources do not establish the current exact app-button location or a complete Xbox-specific list of titles eligible for remote installation.
