If your Wyze Cam says “Ready to Connect” but setup never finishes, that prompt usually means the camera is waiting in its setup flow—not that it is defective. Start with the phone’s app permissions and Wi-Fi, then follow the reset steps for your camera generation. Wyze Cam v4 and v3 have different troubleshooting paths.
Start with the phone, app, and Wi-Fi
For Wyze Cam v4, first check the setup conditions in Wyze’s v4 setup troubleshooting guide and v4 setup guide (US English support pages, updated April 23 and June 3, 2026). These checks are also a sensible first pass when the app does not find the camera.

- Update the Wyze app. Allow it to use Bluetooth and location; on iOS, turn on Precise Location for Wyze.
- Connect the phone to the Wi-Fi network you intend to enter for the camera. If the network name does not appear automatically, confirm the phone is actually connected to Wi-Fi.
- Use a 2.4 GHz network for v4. Wyze Cam v4 does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and Wyze says the phone and camera should use the same 2.4 GHz network during setup.
- Check the network name exactly: the SSID is case-sensitive, and an accidental space can prevent a match. Reveal the password in the setup field and verify it before submitting.
- During setup, keep the phone and camera about 6–10 feet from the router, as Wyze recommends.
Retry connection before resetting
Try the least disruptive fixes first. Forget the Wi-Fi network on the phone, reconnect to it, and restart the camera by unplugging it for five seconds. Reboot the router, then try setup again.
Wyze’s v4 setup guide notes that the camera may say “ready to connect” even before you press SETUP; if that happens, continue setup in the app. A single press of SETUP starts the setup process. It is not a factory reset and does not clear the camera’s settings or unbind it.

Factory-reset a Wyze Cam v4 only if setup still fails
Use this procedure only for v4. Wyze’s v4 reset guidance requires removing the microSD card before resetting. The reset erases the camera’s settings and saved Wi-Fi/setup state, but does not remove installed firmware. You will need to add the camera as a new device afterward.
- Remove the microSD card, if one is installed.
- Keep the camera powered and pull the base away from the camera body to expose the SETUP button on the bottom.
- Press and hold SETUP for 10 seconds. Wait for the status light to turn red; flashing red indicates the reset is complete.
- Open the Wyze app and set up the camera as a new device.
Do not substitute a quick press for the 10-second hold: a quick press starts setup rather than clearing the camera.

Use the v3 path if the camera stopped responding after a firmware update
Wyze Cam v3 has a separate recovery path for a camera that became unresponsive after a firmware update. Wyze’s v3 post-firmware troubleshooting guide (updated December 3, 2024) recommends proceeding in this order:

- If it remains unresponsive, try another power cord and adapter, or a different outlet.
- Remove the SD card, if installed, then factory-reset the camera and set it up as new if the earlier steps do not work.
A different adapter is relevant to a power problem; it will not correct an incorrect Wi-Fi password or missing app permission. Confirm that any replacement accessory matches the exact v3 model and connector.

Use the status light to choose the next step
The same “not connecting” complaint can describe different states. Check the light and voice prompt before repeating setup or resetting.

When to contact Wyze Support
Contact Wyze if the camera remains unresponsive after the model-specific power and reset steps, particularly if a v3 stays solid red after an update. When you ask for help, include the camera generation, the status-light color and whether it is solid or flashing, any voice prompt, and whether the problem began during initial setup or after a firmware update. That information distinguishes a setup loop from a power or firmware recovery problem.
