On a compatible iPhone running iOS 27 or later, Write with Siri lets you compose, rewrite, proofread, and get feedback on text. Select text and open the Siri AI controls to revise it, or activate Siri and describe a writing task. The feature is in beta and requires supported hardware, language settings, and regional eligibility.
Before you start: check iPhone and language eligibility
Siri AI is a beta feature for iOS 27 or later. Apple lists iPhone 15 Pro models and later, iPhone 16 models or later, and iPhone Air as compatible. Your iPhone must support Apple Intelligence, and your Apple Account must be in an eligible region. Siri and the device language must be set to the same supported language. Apple says Siri AI is English-first; its broader Apple Intelligence language list does not establish that every Siri AI capability works in every listed language.

Use Siri AI to revise text already on your screen
- Select the text you want to work on.
- Tap the Siri AI icon in the selection controls.
- Choose Proofread or Rewrite, or tell Siri what change you want.
- Review the response. If you used Rewrite, tap Compare to check the changes against your original text.
This route is useful when you already have a draft and want to polish, rephrase, or assess a specific passage. Apple’s suggested prompts include “Proofread this” and “How’s this sound?”

Ask Siri to create or help with writing
You can also begin without selecting text: activate Siri and describe the writing task. Apple gives examples such as asking Siri to write a story, format a recipe, or condense meeting notes. Be specific about the intended result—for example, ask for a shorter version or a particular format—then review the response before using it.
Refine the result with a follow-up
After Siri responds, swipe down on the answer to start a conversation. Ask a follow-up question or describe the revision you want. This lets you refine an initial response rather than restarting the task each time. Apple’s iPhone guide to Siri AI documents the selection, rewrite, comparison, and follow-up controls.

If Siri AI is unavailable
If your iPhone, language, or region does not qualify—or you do not yet have access—Apple’s Writing Tools are the documented alternative. Writing Tools can write, rewrite, proofread, and summarize in many places where you type, including third-party apps and websites. Availability and controls can differ from Siri AI. Apple says Siri AI is initially available in English and will not initially be available in the EU on iOS. Server-side features may have usage limits, and daily limits can vary. Because the feature is in beta, availability and behavior may change; check Apple’s current setup information if the controls do not appear or setup is unavailable.
