You can queue for battlegrounds through a Battlemaster in a major city or a battleground portal, according to the Forever PvP overview. Seasonal weekly tasks also award Honor and Rank Points; three tasks per season award a Legacy Point.
How PvP progression works
Blizzard describes Forever PvP progression as two connected systems: Honor and Rank Points. They are earned through overlapping activities, but they serve different purposes. Honor is the currency you spend on PvP gear. Rank Points move your character up the rank track, and your rank determines access to certain purchases. Treat them as separate balances: earning Honor does not itself mean you have advanced a rank, and rank progress is not the same thing as currency you can spend.

Blizzard says players can earn Honor by defeating other players, completing battlegrounds, and finishing relevant PvP quests. Rank Points come from activities such as battlegrounds and PvP quests. Battlegrounds during holiday weeks provide a boost to both. Blizzard also says it adjusted Honor acquisition so players would not be pushed toward Alterac Valley solely because it was the most efficient way to earn it. The announcement does not provide a complete activity-by-activity payout table, so do not assume every activity awards the same amounts.

Progression is subject to a weekly cap, and the ladder leads to faction titles: High Warlord for Horde and Grand Marshal for Alliance. Blizzard’s announcement confirms the weekly cap but does not publish its numerical value or a schedule of thresholds. It therefore does not establish how many weeks a particular character will need to reach a given rank.

In Blizzard’s words, “In World of Warcraft: Forever, PvP progression has two parts: Honor and Rank Points.” The practical implication is to watch both systems: Honor for purchases and Rank Points for rank advancement and rank-gated access. The character pane’s PvP tab displays your rank, current Rank Points, and purchases available at your rank, according to Blizzard’s announcement.
Where to queue for battlegrounds
The Forever-specific PvP overview from Wowhead lists two ways to queue: use a battleground portal at its location in the world, or speak to a Battlemaster in a major city. It lists Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley, and Darkspear Islands as battleground options. The queue routes and battleground details here are reported by that third-party guide; Blizzard’s progression announcement does not spell out the live queue interface. Check the current in-game options if the portal or Battlemaster does not present the battleground you expect.
- Choose a queue point. Find a Battlemaster in a major city, or travel to a battleground portal’s location in the world.
- Open the available battleground choices. Use the interaction or queue options presented in the current game. The cited guide does not give a precise menu path or establish every eligibility requirement.
- Select a battleground and join its queue. Available choices may depend on current game rules. The available sources do not establish level brackets, solo versus premade matching, cross-realm queue pools, or expected wait times.
- Review the outcome and rewards after the match. Honor and Marks of Honor are distinct rewards: the guide reports that a win awards three Marks and bonus Honor, while a loss awards one Mark. Confirm the amounts in-game because these implementation details can change.
Wowhead’s guide says Marks of Honor can be used for some PvP gear or exchanged for experience and reputation. It does not provide a full list of eligible items or exchange rates in the material summarized here. Do not confuse Marks with Honor: the guide describes them as an additional battleground reward, while Blizzard identifies Honor as the currency for its blue and epic PvP gear sets.

What is known about Darkspear Islands
The same Wowhead overview describes Darkspear Islands as a 15v15 battleground. Teams score by controlling positions that accumulate points; a central flag can also be carried to a position your team controls for an immediate score. Participation builds reputation with the Theramore Expeditionary Force for Alliance characters or the Darkspear Raiders for Horde characters, and the guide reports gear rewards at reputation milestones.
Those match mechanics and reputation rewards are attributed to Wowhead’s Forever guide, not to Blizzard’s progression announcement. The available information does not specify the exact score thresholds, match duration, reputation amounts, or the gear available at each milestone. Use the battleground’s current in-game objectives and reward display for those specifics.
What Honor and rank unlock
Blizzard says Honor can be spent on one blue-quality PvP gear set and one epic-quality set. To obtain an epic piece, you need its blue version plus an Emboldened Seal; the seals themselves have rank requirements. In practical terms, buying or earning access to the blue version is not by itself enough to turn it into the corresponding epic item. Check the item and seal requirements shown in the PvP tab before planning a purchase.

Blizzard says the PvP tab in the character pane shows your current rank, Rank Points, and the purchases available at your rank. Use that display as the practical check before spending Honor or making a plan around a reward. The announcement gives the reward categories but does not give item names, costs, or a complete list of purchase conditions.
Blizzard also says it added or reworked items to address specialization gaps, giving Shaman healer, melee, and caster PvP sets as an example. That means the gear offerings are not limited to a single generic role in the way a reader might infer from the names of the two quality tiers. The announcement does not enumerate every class or specialization item, so inspect the current PvP purchase listings for the options relevant to your character.

Weekly tasks, seasons, and Legacy Points
Each PvP season includes a journey with weekly tasks. Completing tasks awards Honor and Rank Points, and three tasks during each season also award a Legacy Point. Blizzard says these tasks are connected to the Legacy System and remain available in future seasons. That makes them a separate source of progression to consider alongside battlegrounds and PvP quests, especially if a task matches the kind of PvP activity you already plan to do.
The official announcement does not specify how long a season lasts, what each task requires, or whether all tasks are available at once. It also does not publish the Rank Point amount from a task or explain the exact rules for when a Legacy Point is granted. Check the active season journey in-game for the current task list and completion status rather than relying on a presumed weekly reset or a remembered task from another season.

A weekly task can contribute to both currencies: Honor remains spendable, while Rank Points move rank progression subject to the weekly cap. The Legacy Point is a third, distinct reward associated with completing three tasks during a season. Do not treat one as a substitute for another, and do not assume that receiving Honor from a task means its rank progress has been applied in the way you expect; review the relevant in-game tracker.

What the weekly cap does—and does not—tell you
Blizzard confirms that Rank Points have a weekly cap, describing the design as retaining the foundation of the original system while making the journey more accessible. The announcement does not state the cap amount, the rank thresholds, the week-by-week schedule, or the exact catch-up rules. Without those figures, there is no reliable basis here to calculate a precise time to a particular rank or to say how much progress a specific amount of play will produce.
The cap applies to rank progression, not to the basic distinction between Honor and Rank Points. A player can still think about Honor as a purchase currency and Rank Points as rank advancement, but the official announcement does not explain whether, or how, the weekly limit affects individual activities once it has been reached. Check the PvP tab and current in-game notices for your character’s status instead of treating an estimate from comments or an older ruleset as a confirmed cap.
The announcement likewise does not establish decay, whether titles are permanent, queue times, eligibility by level, or matchmaking rules for premade groups and solo players. These are separate mechanics from the published reward ladder. If one of those details determines whether you queue or pursue a rank, verify it in the current game rather than inferring an answer from the existence of ranks or weekly tasks.

- Check the PvP tab first. Note your displayed rank, current Rank Points, and rank-eligible purchases. This is the clearest in-game reference identified by Blizzard for your current character state.
- Choose a battleground route. Use a city Battlemaster or a battleground portal as described by the Forever PvP overview. Review the current queue choices and any eligibility information presented before joining.
- Track the rewards separately. After a match, distinguish Honor, Marks of Honor if awarded, and any Rank Point movement. They have different uses, and the sources do not provide one universal payout amount.
- Review seasonal tasks. Check the active weekly journey and select tasks whose requirements fit your plans. Tasks award Honor and Rank Points; three tasks during a season grant a Legacy Point.
- Check rank requirements before spending. For an epic set item, verify both the blue item and its Emboldened Seal requirement, including the seal’s rank gate. For rank rewards, inspect the purchase listing rather than assuming the table alone gives item cost or full eligibility details.
- Reassess after weekly progress updates. Because the Rank Point cap and thresholds are not numerically stated in the announcement, use the game’s displayed progress rather than extrapolating a timeline from another system or an unverified guide.
Sources and limits of the published details
Blizzard’s official announcement is the primary source for the Honor and Rank Point design, gear sets, rank rewards, weekly cap, and seasonal tasks: How PvP progression in World of Warcraft: Forever works. The additional queue, Marks of Honor, and Darkspear Islands details cited above come from Wowhead’s Forever PvP overview, updated October 11, 2026: Forever PvP overview: ranking and rewards.
Exact live implementation can change. In particular, the cited official announcement does not give level brackets, group-matching rules, cross-realm queue arrangements, queue times, numerical Rank Point thresholds or caps, decay rules, title permanence, or season duration. Where a precise current mechanic matters, the character pane, queue interface, and active season journey are more useful than extrapolating beyond the published descriptions.
