Blizzard’s October 1, 2026 World of Warcraft: Forever beta notes raise the level cap to 30, open more dungeons and make several Warrior changes. The Undead entry changes when Cannibalize can be used; it does not announce a Paladin-specific nerf.
What the October 1 update changes
Kaivax’s October 1, 2026 beta development notes expand the current test with a higher level ceiling, additional dungeon access and class and racial adjustments.

Level cap and dungeons
- Level cap: Characters can now reach level 30 in the beta.
- Excavation Site: Wetlands: Added for levels 26–31.
- Razorfen Downs: Access added for level 25 and above.
- Uldaman: Access added for level 30 and above.
The level bands for the dungeons are those stated in Blizzard’s notes; they do not change the beta’s newly stated level-30 maximum.

The Warrior section is a mix of mechanical adjustments and fixes, rather than a simple list of buffs. Blizzard says players generate 75% more Rage on a basic-attack critical strike. That percentage is a patch-note mechanic, not a measured estimate of damage or overall class performance.

- With a single game time purchase you can access World of Warcraft and WoW Classic, including 20th Anniversary Edition, Cataclysm Classic, Season of Discovery, and Hardcore Realms.
- Embark on your epic adventure in Azeroth for 60 days with this pre-paid game timecard.
- Simply enter your code at battle.net/code then assign this game time to any new or existing World of Warcraft account to keep the adventures going. No game purchase required.
- Includes access to World of Warcraft and WOW Classic. The most recent modern WOW expansion is sold separately.
- Rend and Sunder Armor: Both abilities now instantly tag enemies to the Warrior.
- Heroic Strike: Queueing it no longer increases off-hand hit chance.
- Spearing Strike: No longer requires a two-handed weapon, but now requires Battle Stance.
- Fury: Dual Wield Specialization and Unbridled Rage receive changes.
The notes identify the Fury changes but do not provide enough detail here to characterize each as a buff or nerf. The Heroic Strike hit-chance adjustment and Spearing Strike’s stance requirement also make the update more than a blanket Warrior improvement.
What the Undead Cannibalize note means for Paladins
Blizzard’s Undead entry says Cannibalize cannot be used when its caster is immune to physical damage. It is written as a racial ability limitation; the note does not name Paladins or describe a change aimed specifically at Undead Paladins. The headline’s “sad news” framing should therefore be read as interpretation, not as a class-specific patch announcement.

Keep the October 1 notes separate from September 24
The October 1 changes appear in a beta development-notes post that was first opened on September 24 and includes an earlier changelog. That earlier Warrior list includes a Sunder Armor threat correction, a Protection talent-row swap, a longer Slam cooldown, an Improved Slam change and an increased Bloodthrill proc. Those are September 24 entries, not new October 1 changes.
Some October 2 coverage described circulating notes as purported or leaked, but Blizzard’s October 1 forum post is the primary source for these beta details. The official post is the relevant reference for what the update says.
