GamingBolt reported on October 2, 2026, that ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE had reached 48,687 concurrent Steam players. The same report put ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN’s Steam peak at 13,758, making the new game’s reported peak more than three times as high. GamingBolt’s comparison cites SteamDB; the SteamDB chart text reviewed for that report did not independently expose the peak series.

The campaign takes place in Strangereal, where the Federation of Central Usea is occupied by the Republic of Sotoa. Players fly as the “Wings of Theve” alongside Joker Flight. Bandai Namco describes the game as an arcade-style aerial combat experience built around a story campaign.

The publisher says the online Air Base can host up to 100 players. That is a stated lobby capacity, not the number of players in a mission or a Steam concurrency figure; missions use smaller teams.
Which editions are available?
Bandai Namco lists Standard, Deluxe and Joker Flight Pack editions. The official FAQ describes the Deluxe Edition as including the full game, three days of early access, a Premium Ace Pass Plus voucher and a customizable cosmetic set. The Joker Flight Pack is a physical package that includes the Deluxe Edition, the 200-plus-page ACES at WAR: A HISTORY 2029 art book and two LPs. Contents and stock can vary by region and retailer, so check the local listing before purchasing.

Bandai Namco lists 125 GB of free storage and 32 GB of RAM among the PC requirements. It says 1080p at 60 frames per second with upscaling at Medium settings is possible; that is the publisher’s stated target, not an independent benchmark. What the Steam record does—and does not—show
The reported peak makes ACE COMBAT 8 a stronger Steam launch than ACE COMBAT 7 by this one comparable measure. It does not settle how the game performs across platforms, how many copies have sold, or whether the reported launch complaints have since been addressed. Those questions require separate, current evidence.
