worldclock-tty is a Python command-line clock that shows your local time and multiple configured international time zones in one terminal display. You can add IANA time-zone names, choose a refresh interval and 12- or 24-hour formatting, show military zone notation or a Date-Time Group, and customize the colors.
What worldclock-tty displays
The project describes itself as “A terminal-based world clock that displays multiple timezones in real-time.” The local time appears at the top, with configured time zones below in two columns. The display refreshes once per second by default. This is a text-based terminal tool, not a graphical clock.

Its displayed zones are configured using IANA time-zone names such as America/Chicago and Europe/Paris. The default set spans the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Pacific. Use the project’s official README for the complete and current command reference.
Install and launch it
You need Python 3.10 or later. The README documents installation as a uv-managed tool:

worldclock-ttyAfter installation, the second command starts the clock. Press Ctrl+C to exit.
Manage the time zones shown
Add zones by their IANA names, then use the documented list, remove, or reset commands to adjust the set. For example, to add Chicago:

By default, the clock refreshes once per second. You can set a different interval; the README says refreshes align to the wall clock. Other documented display switches include:

Use military notation or a Date-Time Group
For military zone letters, use --military or its alias --zulu. To show a full Date-Time Group (DTG) at minute precision, use --full-military or its alias --dtg. Zones without an official military letter use numeric fallbacks, as described in the README.

worldclock-tty --theme oceanFor finer control, the README documents per-element color overrides, such as --color time=green. A theme can be saved as the default; per-run color overrides are not described as persistent settings.

Configured time zones are stored in $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/worldclock-tty/config.json. When XDG_CONFIG_HOME is unset, the default path is ~/.config/worldclock-tty/config.json. The saved theme is the only persisted display preference identified in the README; other display options can be supplied when launching the program.

Release and license
PyPI lists version 0.4.4, uploaded February 28, 2026, and declares an MIT license. Treat that version as the latest release shown in the registry record, not a guarantee that it remains the latest. The project describes the software as a heavy refactor of a timezone clock its author made in 2016.
