To make the whole shop start with the newest products, change the catalog’s default sorting to Sort by most recent. These options serve different purposes: one creates a dedicated section; the other changes the catalog’s initial order.
Choose the display that matches your goal

Add a New Arrivals section with the Product Collection block
WooCommerce describes the New Arrivals collection as highlighting products most recently added to the catalog. Its default window is the previous seven days, and you can change that interval in the block sidebar. The setting is useful when your merchandising cycle is shorter or longer than a week.

- Open the page or template where the section should appear in the site editor.
- Insert a Product Collection block.
- Choose the New Arrivals collection preset. If you need different rules, choose or create a custom collection instead.
- In the block sidebar, adjust the inclusion period, product count, stock-status rules, and other available query settings to suit the section.
- Choose a layout: stack, grid, or carousel. For a grid, consider how many columns fit the section and smaller screens. Use a carousel only if horizontal browsing makes sense for the page.
- Preview the page or template and confirm that the selected products and layout appear as intended.
The block can be used on pages and templates, so the arrivals section does not have to be limited to the main shop catalog. See WooCommerce’s Product Collection block documentation for the available collection and layout controls.

For a store-wide default rather than a separate showcase, set the catalog’s default ordering to Sort by most recent. In a classic theme, open the catalog sorting settings and choose that option. The shop and category catalog will then show products newest to oldest by default, although visitors can choose a different sort order. This is distinct from a New Arrivals block, which displays a separate collection on a page or template.

Use a shortcode only for a legacy layout
WooCommerce documents this example for showing four visible products, in four columns, ordered by descending product ID:

WooCommerce characterizes shortcodes as a legacy route and primarily uses blocks for interactive product display. For a new arrivals section on a modern block-based page, prefer Product Collection. Check publication status and catalog visibility
A product must be published and visible on the catalog surface you are checking. A product set to Hidden is visible only on its individual product page; shop and search visibility settings affect where published products appear. Check the product’s visibility settings if it appears on its own page but not in the shop or arrivals section. WooCommerce product visibility documentation

Check the arrivals time window and filters
If the New Arrivals collection omits an older product, check whether it falls outside the block’s current inclusion period. Also review the collection’s stock-status rules and other query settings, which can exclude products even when they are published. Product Collection settings
Check the active sort order for manual placement
If you arranged products manually in the admin but customers see a different sequence, confirm that the storefront is using Default Sorting. A different customer-selected or default catalog sort order can override the sequence you curated. WooCommerce product sorting guidance

When to use each approach
- Choose New Arrivals when recent products need a distinct, automatically refreshed section.
- Choose a custom Product Collection when the section needs specific ordering, stock filters, product count, or layout.
- Choose Sort by most recent when the entire catalog should open with the newest products first.
- Choose manual admin sorting when the order should be curated rather than chronological, and set the storefront to Default Sorting.
- Keep the shortcode for an existing legacy page that depends on it; use blocks for a new interactive display.
