Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf Witcher Wannabe has not appeared, finish Contract: The Merry Widow, leave Lindenvale to do other activities for several in-game days, then return and speak with the Ealdorman. Taking a notice is not enough to start it. If the quest is already active, check that you have killed the cemetery ghoul and followed its tracks with Witcher Senses before treating the objective as a bug.
First, identify where progress stopped
Witcher Wannabe is a secondary quest in Lindenvale, in Velen. Its fix depends on whether the quest has not appeared yet or an active objective is stalled. Walkthroughs describe a prerequisite and a sequence of in-game actions; for a persistent software issue, CD PROJEKT RED provides general PC troubleshooting steps, not a confirmed quest-specific fix.

- Quest not in the journal: check the prerequisite and delayed start below.
- Quest in the journal, objective unchanged: follow the cemetery and tracking sequence.
- Those steps are complete but the quest remains stuck: use the general recovery and support options.
If Witcher Wannabe has not appeared
- Confirm that Contract: The Merry Widow is complete. Walkthroughs list it as a prerequisite. Game8’s walkthrough and the community-edited Witcher Wiki entry identify the prerequisite.
- Leave Lindenvale and spend several in-game days doing other activities, then return. Guide estimates differ: Game8 describes returning after five days, while Gamer Guides recommends leaving the area for a few days and says roughly a week should suffice. These are walkthrough timings, not an official guarantee; waiting alone may not be sufficient.
- Speak with the Ealdorman in Lindenvale. A notice board may point you toward the quest, but taking or reading a notice does not itself start it, according to the GameBanshee walkthrough.
If the active objective is not advancing
Use the journal’s current objective to orient yourself, then check that the quest’s described sequence is complete:
- Go to the cemetery and kill the ghoul.
- Activate Witcher Senses and follow the tracks until they reach the hiding place.
- Speak with the people you find there and finish the conversation. The dialogue offers more than one outcome; choose the response you want rather than expecting one required choice to unlock the next step.
The sequence is described in the Game8 walkthrough and GameBanshee’s guide. If an objective still does not change after the relevant action, avoid assuming that repeating it will repair a software fault; move on to recovery steps.

If the quest appears genuinely stuck on PC
CD PROJEKT RED’s PC quest-progression support article recommends these general checks:
- Verify the integrity of the game files using the file-check option for your platform.
- Load a save made before the progression problem began.
- Review the journal for a related quest that may need to be completed first.
These are publisher recommendations for quest progression issues generally; the support guidance does not identify a Witcher Wannabe-specific repair. Make a separate backup of any save you may need before replacing your current progress with an earlier one.

Is this a known Witcher Wannabe bug?
The cited official patch notes list fixes for other named quests and general quest corrections, but do not identify a Witcher Wannabe fix. That does not prove the quest is bug-free on every version or platform; it means these sources do not confirm a current, quest-specific bug or dedicated fix. See the Next-Gen Update patch notes for the fixes they do document.
