Start with your phone’s supported charging standard, not the wattage printed on a charger. A Qi pad can charge many iPhones and Android phones, but its actual speed depends on the phone, charger, power adapter, alignment and case. Magnetic Qi2 or MagSafe models can make positioning easier and may support higher output on compatible pairings; they do not guarantee their maximum speed for every phone.
The nine products below are examples drawn from recommendations and specifications published by Tom’s Guide and WIRED, not a head-to-head test by Freedom251. Their rankings and reported methods are attributed to those publishers. Check the exact model generation, included adapter and current price before buying.

Check your phone’s compatibility before choosing a charger
Apple says iPhone 8 and later can charge with Qi-certified accessories, and many Qi-certified chargers charge iPhone at up to 7.5W. That is a general capability, not a promise that every phone-and-charger combination will reach that rate. Android support and maximum output vary by model, so check the phone maker’s specifications as well as the charger’s. Apple’s Qi charging guidance also explains that placement, case thickness and heat can affect charging.
Qi2 is not simply another name for MagSafe. The Wireless Power Consortium’s November 15, 2023 release says Qi v2.0 includes a Magnetic Power Profile based on MagSafe technology contributed by Apple, as well as an Extended Power Profile without magnets. The Consortium’s July 23, 2025 release identifies Qi v2.2.1 as Qi2 25W. These are distinct profiles and versions: confirm that both your phone and charger support the profile you want. A Qi2 or MagSafe label on the accessory alone does not establish your phone’s maximum rate.

For context, the Consortium reported that 14 transmitters and receivers had completed Qi2 25W certification testing in its limited launch in 2025. That figure describes certified devices at that time, not the compatibility of every phone or charger now on sale. The WPC’s Qi2 launch release and its Qi2 25W release explain the standards.
What to verify for your phone
- Charging profile: Look up the phone’s supported Qi, Qi2 or MagSafe capability; do not infer built-in magnetic alignment on an Android phone from Qi support alone.
- Maximum output for the pairing: The phone, charger and power supply all affect the result. A charger’s advertised maximum is not a universal charging rate.
- Case and alignment: Center a phone on a pad. A thick or metal case may interfere; Apple advises removing a problematic case if charging is slow.
- Heat: Apple says software may limit charging above 80 percent until the iPhone cools.
Nine wireless chargers to consider
This comparison combines publisher-reported recommendations and product details. Tom’s Guide describes living with chargers for at least a week, including overnight charging and timed daytime iPhone tests. WIRED says its reviewer tests Qi2 and MagSafe chargers for at least a week, using an iPhone 16 and iPhone 12 and, where possible, a Pixel 10 Pro XL. Those are the publishers’ stated methods; they are not tests conducted for this article. The sources do not provide a same-lab comparison of all nine products.

Single pad
A pad is a simple choice if you can place the phone flat and do not need to see its screen. It may also be the lower-complexity option for a single device. Check where the coil sits and whether your case allows reliable alignment.

Stand
A stand keeps the display visible while the phone charges. Magnetic alignment can help position compatible phones, but a magnetic stand is not automatically suitable for every Android phone. Check the supported profile and case requirements for the precise model.
Foldable stand
A foldable design is useful when portability or a smaller storage footprint matters. Inspect whether it charges the phone alone or also has separate watch and earbuds positions; “3-in-1” does not mean every device using Qi will work in every position.

Multi-device pad or stand
Choose a multi-device charger by naming the devices you plan to charge together. A phone position may use Qi, Qi2 or MagSafe, while an Apple Watch position uses a watch-specific charger and earbuds may use a separate Qi pad. Confirm that all positions can be used at the same time and identify each position’s output.

The charging puck or stand is only part of the setup. The USB power adapter can determine whether a compatible phone reaches the charger’s stated maximum. For example, WIRED says the current Apple 2-meter MagSafe charger needs a 30W USB-C adapter for its cited maximum on iPhone 16 and later, while its Nomad Stand One 4th Gen requires a 40W adapter. Those are model-specific requirements, not a general adapter rule.

- Look for an adapter in the box and note its wattage; do not assume a cable or charger includes one.
- If the adapter is separate, compare the cost of a suitable one as part of the purchase.
- Check cable length, whether it is attached, and whether the outlet and desk placement suit the design.
- Compare the exact model’s warranty and return policy, especially when buying a multi-device charger or an older generation.
Which type is the right choice?
- For a basic iPhone or Android setup: Choose a Qi-certified pad if your phone supports Qi and you do not need magnetic alignment.
- For magnetic alignment: Choose a MagSafe or Qi2 charger only after confirming the phone’s support and the output available for that pairing.
- For a visible screen: Consider a stand, then check whether its magnets and case requirements match your phone.
- For Apple phone, watch and earbuds together: Compare the charging positions, included adapter and compatibility device by device; watch charging is not generic Qi phone charging.
- For travel: A foldable design may be easier to pack, but check its adapter and cable needs before treating it as a complete travel setup.
