Get the current key in YouTube Studio under Create > Go Live > Stream, then check for an incoming preview in Live Control Room before taking the event live. Wirecast menu names can vary by version and setup, so use the settings for the destination you are actually streaming through rather than relying on an unverified menu path.
Update the key in Wirecast

In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live to open Live Control Room, then select Stream.

If the old key is invalid or may have been exposed, select Reset beside the hidden stream key and copy the newly generated value. Only a channel owner or manager can reset a key; editors and viewers do not have that permission.

In Wirecast, open the settings for the active YouTube stream destination. Replace the saved value in Stream Key, or the equivalent key field displayed for that destination, and save or apply the change. The precise Wirecast menu path depends on the version and setup.

Start the encoder and look for its incoming preview in Live Control Room. Confirm the preview before taking the event live.
YouTube describes stream keys as “your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Treat the key as a credential: copy it into the encoder, and do not share it publicly.

If Wirecast uses account login instead of a key
Some software integrations connect to YouTube through account login rather than a manually entered stream key. If your Wirecast destination does not expose a key field, do not reset or paste credentials into an unrelated setting. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance says to contact the software provider when a login-based integration needs attention.
If the replacement key does not work

No preview in Live Control Room: Check that the new key was copied completely and saved in the active YouTube destination in Wirecast. Confirm the encoder is sending to the intended stream.

You cannot reset the key: Ask a channel owner or manager to perform the reset; editor and viewer roles cannot do it.

You do not see a stream-key field: Check whether the destination uses account login. If it does, contact the software provider rather than searching for a key field that is not part of that connection.

The event is already live or scheduled: Verify the incoming preview in Live Control Room before starting or resuming the event with the updated encoder settings.
