The filter can target Windows 365 Link devices in supported assignment workloads, but it does not join or enroll them. Enrollment prerequisites and restrictions must be handled separately.
Create the Windows 365 Link device filter
- In the Microsoft Intune admin center, open Tenant administration > Filters > Create > Managed devices.
- Enter a filter name and, if useful, a description.
- For platform, select Windows 10 and later.
- Add this rule:
- Property:
operatingSystemSKU(Operating System SKU) - Operator: Equals
- Value:
WCPC(Windows CPC (210))
- Property:
- Select Review + create, check the settings, and select Create.
Microsoft documents the filter as a way to include or exclude Windows 365 Link devices in supported Windows workload assignments. When configuring an assignment, select the filter and choose whether to include or exclude matching devices. Microsoft’s dedicated creation steps do not require using Preview. For syntax and supported properties, see the Intune filters reference.

Confirm enrollment prerequisites separately
A matching filter only determines assignment targeting. For the endpoint to enroll and appear as manageable in Intune, Microsoft says Windows 365 Link devices must be joined to Microsoft Entra ID, the tenant’s MDM authority must be Microsoft Intune, and automatic enrollment must be configured. The Microsoft Intune MDM user scope must be set to All or Some; the enrolling user also needs the appropriate Microsoft Entra Premium license. See Microsoft’s Windows 365 Link deployment guidance and automatic enrollment documentation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteMicrosoft treats filter creation as an optional deployment-preparation step alongside requirements, Entra device settings, automatic enrollment, enrollment restrictions, and Conditional Access validation. A filter cannot compensate for a missing enrollment prerequisite.

Prevent enrollment restrictions from blocking initial setup
During first enrollment, Windows 365 Link can initially be classified as Unknown. A restriction that blocks personally owned Windows devices also blocks Unknown devices, which can prevent enrollment. Microsoft documents three approaches; the appropriate choice depends on how devices and enrollment policies are managed. See Microsoft’s Windows 365 Link enrollment guidance.
| Approach | How it works | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Upload corporate identifiers | Register the device as corporate using its actual manufacturer, model, and serial number. Microsoft’s example CSV row is Microsoft Corporation,Windows 365 Link,01234567890123. |
Use the identifiers for each actual device; the example serial number is not a value to copy for your fleet. |
| Create a filtered allow restriction | Assign an allow restriction using the Windows 365 Link SKU filter. Select Include filtered devices in assignment. | Place the new allow restriction above the blocking restriction in priority order. |
| Use a Device Enrollment Manager (DEM) | Enroll through a DEM account where that approach is appropriate for your organization. | Choose it only if delegated enrollment fits your administrative workflow and policy. |
Know the management limits after enrollment
- Compliance: Microsoft says the only compliance setting that applies to Windows 365 Link is Device health.
- Security configuration: BitLocker, Secure Boot, and code integrity are enabled by default and cannot be turned off. Most Intune endpoint security features do not apply. The operating system includes the Defender for Endpoint sensor, and devices can be onboarded to Defender for Endpoint.
- Remote actions and check-in: While a device is asleep in disconnected standby, it does not check in with Intune or respond to remote device actions.
These behaviors are documented in Microsoft’s Windows 365 Link deployment guidance; they are separate from whether the SKU filter matches the device.
