To sign in to or sign out of an account used by Windows 11 Widgets, open the Discover dashboard and use its account menu. This controls the Discover dashboard account flow; it does not sign you out of Windows itself.
How to sign out of the Discover dashboard
- Open Widgets by selecting the Widgets area on the taskbar or pressing Windows key + W.
- Select Discover in the navigation bar.
- Select the user account button, then choose Manage accounts.
- Select More profile settings, then choose Sign out.
These are Microsoft’s documented steps for signing out of Discover. Interface labels may change, and Microsoft’s instructions do not specify a particular Windows 11 build or Widgets version. Microsoft Support: Stay up to date with Widgets in Windows.

How to use another account in Discover
Open the Widgets account menu and select Manage accounts to sign in to Discover with another Microsoft account. This is the account flow for the dashboard; Microsoft’s instructions do not say that it changes the account signed in to Windows.

Discover sign-out is not Windows sign-out
Signing out of Discover is limited to the dashboard account flow. By contrast, signing out of Windows closes your current Windows session and open applications. Save your work before signing out of Windows because unsaved changes may be lost. Microsoft Support: User Account Access in Windows.

Personalization, privacy, and updates
Personalized content
Discover uses Microsoft account preferences for personalization by default. Microsoft says using the same Microsoft account helps make news-feed personalization available across devices. Discover language and content are determined by Windows display language and Country or region settings by default.
Manage data and widget privacy
Microsoft directs users to its privacy dashboard to access and manage Microsoft-account data used to personalize Widgets. Windows diagnostic data from Widgets is governed by the diagnostic-data settings selected in Windows Settings. Individual widgets and dashboards may rely on different apps or services, whose own settings affect their privacy behavior. Signing out of Discover should not be assumed to delete account data or clear all personalization.

If Widgets or Discover is not working
Microsoft says the latest Windows Web Experience Pack and Start Experiences App updates are needed for Widgets and that they should update automatically. Its guidance does not provide a specific troubleshooting sequence for a missing sign-out option.
