If the clock itself is missing, check whether its taskbar visibility setting is off. If the panel opens but shows no events, Microsoft’s cited guidance does not establish a fix or a specific cause.
First identify which taskbar calendar problem you have
These symptoms point to different checks. The clock and date may be hidden; the calendar and notification flyout may not open; or the flyout may open without the events you expect. Notification alerts are another separate issue: notification settings affect alerts and their presentation, not necessarily calendar events shown in the flyout.

- Clock or date missing: Check the taskbar’s time-and-date visibility setting.
- Flyout will not open: Try the documented alternative ways to open it.
- Flyout opens but has no events: The cited Microsoft support guidance does not provide a recovery procedure for this specific symptom.
- Missed alerts: Review Windows and app notification settings; alerts are not the same as calendar events.
Try the documented ways to open the flyout
Microsoft lists the taskbar clock or notification bell, the Windows+N keyboard shortcut, and a swipe from the screen edge as ways to open the calendar and notification center flyout. These are access methods, not guaranteed repairs.

- If the panel does not appear, press Windows+N.

If the clock or date is missing
Open Settings > Personalization > Taskbar and look for Show time and date in the system tray. Microsoft documents that this option can be toggled on or off, so check that it is enabled if you want the clock and date displayed. The setting controls visibility; it is not a documented fix for a flyout that remains unresponsive or an empty events view. The option’s availability or exact presentation may vary across Windows versions and devices.
If the complaint is about missing notification alerts
Windows notification settings let you control app notifications, banners, sounds, and Do Not Disturb. Review Settings > System > Notifications, then check the affected app’s notification options if alerts are missing. Microsoft’s Notifications and Do Not Disturb in Windows guidance covers these controls.
Changing notification settings may address alerts that are suppressed or not presented as expected. The cited guidance does not say that these controls restore calendar events inside the flyout, so treat an empty events view as a separate symptom.

If the flyout still will not open or shows no events
If none of the documented access methods opens the panel, or it opens without events, Microsoft’s cited support material does not specify a recovery sequence for those exact problems. It also does not establish that a particular app, account, update, or Windows component is responsible. Avoid treating notification settings as a proven repair for either symptom.
Windows taskbar changes can arrive gradually, and preview update notes describe some changes as phased or dependent on the device. If a taskbar option discussed elsewhere is absent, check your Windows version and build before assuming the feature is available on every device. Microsoft’s notes for August 27, 2026—KB5120998 preview and September 22, 2026—KB5124006 preview describe gradual or phased availability; those preview notes do not establish a universal rollout.
