Windows 11’s so-called God Mode is a handy index of Control Panel tasks—not a hidden administrator account or a replacement for Settings. Create a folder with a special name to open it, or use an Explorer shortcut to reach the same view.
What is the Windows 11 God Mode folder?
“God Mode” is the popular nickname for a Windows shell view more literally described as All Tasks. It gathers links to available Windows tasks and Control Panel items in one place. The folder does not install a feature, change system permissions, or unlock restricted controls.

The view is associated with the identifier {ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}. The text before the period in the folder name is only a label; that identifier is what invokes the view.

Create the special folder
- Right-click an empty area of the desktop, or open a folder where you want to keep the shortcut.
- Select New > Folder.
- Rename the folder exactly to
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}, then press Enter. - Open the folder. Windows may change its icon or hide the “GodMode” label as it presents the All Tasks view.
If renaming fails, check that the full identifier—including braces and hyphens—is present and that the folder name has no extra characters after the closing brace.

Use an Explorer shortcut instead
To open the same view without creating a specially named folder, create a Windows shortcut and enter this as its target:
explorer.exe shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
The shortcut can have a custom name and can be pinned or assigned a keyboard shortcut like other Windows shortcuts. This command is a convenient way to launch the view; Microsoft’s documentation on Control Panel canonical names describes launching Control Panel items, but does not itself guarantee this specific All Tasks folder-naming technique.

Does God Mode give you administrator access?
No. The nickname is misleading if taken literally: the view does not elevate your account or bypass organization policies. Controls remain subject to your existing permissions. A task may ask for administrator approval or may not be available to your account.
Is God Mode better than the Settings app?
It can be quicker when you regularly browse older or scattered Control Panel options, because it consolidates task links into a single index. It is not objectively better for every job, and it does not replace Settings.
Microsoft says many Control Panel settings are moving to Settings and encourages users to use Settings whenever possible; Control Panel remains for compatibility and options that have not yet migrated. For the current recommendation, see Microsoft’s overview of Windows system-configuration tools.

Why the list may differ from another PC
There is no dependable fixed number of entries to expect. What appears can vary with the Windows build and edition, installed components, and the permissions available to the current user. Treat online claims of a universal task count as unreliable rather than as a checklist for your computer.

All Tasks is a navigation shortcut, not a safety filter. Before changing a system setting, confirm what it does and whether the change is appropriate for your device. Microsoft warns that incorrect configuration in some system tools can cause instability or prevent Windows from starting; use Settings where possible and take extra care with unfamiliar Control Panel options.
