Littelfuse is reportedly retiring its Zilog eZ80 microcontroller family. A report published October 11, 2026 says the company’s customer notice sets December 21, 2026 as the last-order date, with final deliveries during 2027. Those dates come from a secondary report, not the original notice, so buyers should verify the terms and whether their exact part number is covered before placing a last-time order.
What the eZ80 is
Littelfuse’s integrated-circuits selection guide places the eZ80 in its “Ethernet and Internet Connectivity” MCU family and describes the devices for embedded web-server applications. What is known about the retirement
Hackaday reported on October 11, 2026 that Littelfuse issued product change notice ZAC26-0074, covering the eZ80 and other MCU lines owned by the company. The report gives December 21, 2026 as the last-order date and says final deliveries are scheduled throughout 2027. These are reported lifecycle milestones; the primary PCN was not available in the sources cited here, so they should not be treated as independently confirmed official terms. The report also says distributor listings had been marked end of life. That is a snapshot reported on October 11, 2026, not confirmation of present inventory or the status of every distributor. An end-of-life listing does not establish that stock is available to buy.

What eZ80 users should do
- Identify the exact device. Record the full orderable part number, package, and any ordering suffix from the product label, bill of materials, or device documentation.
- Check whether that part is covered. Obtain PCN ZAC26-0074 and its affected-part list before relying on the reported dates. The notice’s formal date, coverage, and ordering conditions have not been confirmed here.
- Confirm supply directly. Ask distributors about actual stock and whether it is available for the required quantity and delivery schedule; an end-of-life status alone does not answer either question.
- Ask Littelfuse about the part number and notice. Its support form offers technical and sales support categories and accepts a part number, providing an official route to inquire about notice coverage and lifecycle terms.
- Plan a migration if needed. Check software and toolchain dependencies, then qualify any proposed substitute in the target system before committing to a redesign or production change.
Is there an eZ80 replacement?
The available sources do not identify or validate a replacement MCU. Similar application descriptions or a shared feature do not prove that another device is pin-compatible, code-compatible, or electrically suitable. Treat any candidate as a redesign possibility until its datasheet, package and pinout, peripherals, operating conditions, toolchain requirements, and system behavior have been checked and the design has been qualified.
No part-to-part compatibility comparison is established by the cited material. For a specific eZ80 device, Littelfuse support can be asked about notice coverage; engineering qualification is still necessary to establish whether a proposed alternative works in the intended product.
