Windows 11 has two similar-looking prompts with different controls. If you see device-usage choices such as “Let’s customize your experience,” adjust Device usage preferences. If you see “Let’s finish setting up your device,” disable the setup suggestions under Notifications. Changing one setting does not turn off the other.
First, identify which prompt you’re seeing
Check the wording on the screen before changing settings. Device usage preferences let Windows tailor tips and recommendations to how you use your PC. The “Let’s finish setting up your device” screen is a separate setup-completion experience called the Second Chance Out-of-Box Experience, or SCOOBE.

- Personalization prompt: Look for “Let’s customize your experience” or choices about how you use your device. Use the Device usage settings.
- Setup reminder: Look for “Let’s finish setting up your device.” Use the Notifications settings described below.
The labels and Settings layout can vary between Windows versions and builds, so match the available option to the wording you see.
If Windows keeps asking how you use your device
Device usage preferences can affect personalized tips, app suggestions, recommendations, and how Microsoft features and ads are presented, according to Microsoft Support.

- Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
- Go to System > Personalization > Device usage.
- Switch the listed usage preferences on or off as you want.
This changes the personalization preferences. It is not the control for the separate “Let’s finish setting up your device” reminder.
If you keep seeing “Let’s finish setting up your device”
Microsoft describes SCOOBE as an experience for completing device setup when the PC was only partially configured, and says it typically appears automatically if the original setup was not completed. That is a documented possible explanation, not proof of why the screen keeps appearing on any particular PC.

- Expand Additional settings.
- Turn off Suggest ways to get the most out of Windows and finish setting up this device for what you want.
Some Windows versions use the alternate label Offer suggestions on how I can set up my device for what you want. If that is the option shown, turn it off instead. These steps are documented in a Windows 11 Forum tutorial last updated September 4, 2026; the detailed toggle instructions are from an independent source, not Microsoft.

The available documentation does not establish one cause for every recurring prompt or identify why it reappears on a specific computer. Incomplete original setup is one possible explanation for SCOOBE, but it should not be treated as a confirmed diagnosis. The two settings above address the two different experiences; neither establishes that an update, account state, or bug caused the prompt.
