Windows 11 Insider Preview build 26340.9596 adds a Cloud Rebuild entry point at Settings > System > Recovery. The change makes the recovery feature easier to find in Settings; the announcement does not describe a new recovery engine or a change to the recovery result. The build was released to the Experimental channel on October 2, 2026, and its features are rolling out gradually to Insiders.
What changed in Cloud Rebuild?
Microsoft’s build notes identify a new Cloud Rebuild entry point in Settings. This is a navigation and discoverability change: the cited announcement does not establish new recovery capabilities, changed requirements, or a different recovery outcome. It also does not explain the Cloud Rebuild workflow in detail.

Because the feature is being gradually rolled out, its appearance may vary among Insiders even if they are using the same build. The release notes do not say when—or whether—the entry point will reach general Windows users or remain unchanged after preview testing.
