If Windows 11 blue-screens after a graphics driver update, first try rolling back the display driver. If Windows will not start normally, use Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) to enter Safe Mode and do the rollback there. The timing makes the driver a sensible first suspect, but it does not prove the driver caused the crash: hardware or other software can also trigger a stop error.
Before changing anything, note the error
If the blue screen displays a STOP code or a module after “What failed,” write it down or take a photo. Microsoft notes that a stop error can result from hardware, a driver, or software, so the code may help focus later troubleshooting. A recent graphics update is a useful clue, not a diagnosis. Microsoft’s blue-screen troubleshooting guidance explains the error information Windows may show.

If Windows starts: roll back the display driver
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters, then open the graphics adapter’s Properties.
- Select the Driver tab and choose Roll Back Driver. Confirm the prompts, then restart Windows.
You may need administrator privileges. If Roll Back Driver is unavailable, Windows may not have a previous driver package to restore. Microsoft’s display-driver troubleshooting guidance recommends rolling back a recently updated display driver in applicable display problems; this is a troubleshooting step, not a guarantee that the driver caused every blue screen.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →If Windows will not start: use Safe Mode
Startup Settings in WinRE can start Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. From WinRE, choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart, then select a Safe Mode option. The route into WinRE varies with the device and whether Windows can still start; consult Microsoft’s Startup Settings instructions for the available entry methods.

Once in Safe Mode, follow the Device Manager rollback steps above. If rollback is unavailable, you can uninstall the display adapter driver in Device Manager and restart. Windows will attempt to reinstall a driver, but that does not ensure it will restore the exact previous version or fix the crash. Microsoft documents these display-adapter steps in its screen-flickering troubleshooting guide.
When low-resolution video may help
Startup Settings also offers Enable low-resolution video. It starts Windows using the current video driver at a low resolution and refresh rate, which can help if the immediate problem is display settings. It is different from Safe Mode and does not itself roll back the driver.
If driver recovery does not work: choose the next recovery option carefully
Use the recovery option that fits what changed. System Restore returns system files and settings to a restore point. Uninstall updates is intended for problems following a Windows update; it may not remove a separately installed graphics-driver package. Resetting or reinstalling Windows is more disruptive and may remove files, so back up important data when possible before proceeding. See Microsoft’s Windows recovery options for what each option does.

- Video Link to instructions and Free support VIA Amazon
- Great Support fast responce
- 15 plus years of experiance
- Key is included
- BitLocker: Some WinRE recovery actions may require the BitLocker recovery key. Locate it before continuing if device encryption is enabled.
- Installation media: A USB drive is not needed for Device Manager rollback or built-in WinRE. If the PC cannot start and built-in recovery is unavailable, Microsoft describes creating installation media on another working PC for reinstalling Windows. Treat reinstall as a later option, not the first response to a driver-related crash. Instructions are in Microsoft’s recovery guidance.
After Windows is stable, identify the right driver
Do not choose a replacement package based only on “Windows 11” or a GPU family name. First identify the exact PC model or graphics adapter and your Windows edition and build. Microsoft says Windows Update normally provides drivers; when a driver is needed from another source, use the PC or display-adapter manufacturer’s official support page. Laptop makers may provide packages tailored to a specific system. Microsoft’s driver update guidance explains Windows’ driver options.
If blue screens continue after rollback or driver removal, revisit the STOP code and consider causes beyond the graphics driver. The available symptoms alone cannot establish which component or software is at fault.
