Windows 10のサポートは2025年10月14日に終了しました。終了後もPCは動作しますが、通常の技術サポート、機能更新、セキュリティ更新は提供されません。個人向けの拡張セキュリティ更新（ESU）は移行までの一時的な選択肢です。2025年の発表では1年間の措置として案内されましたが、Microsoftの現在の日本語サポートページでは保護期限が2027年10月12日までとされています。
サポート終了後もWindows 10のPCは使える？
使えます。サポート終了は、PCが起動しなくなることや、Windows 10が直ちに無効になることを意味しません。Microsoft Supportは、2025年10月14日以降もWindows 10搭載PCは引き続き機能する一方、技術サポート、ソフトウェア更新、セキュリティ更新や修正を提供しなくなると説明しています。通常のセキュリティ更新がなくなるため、ウイルスやマルウェアにさらされるリスクが高まります。
対象となるWindows 10のバージョン22H2と指定されたLTSBエディションは、Microsoft Lifecycleの日本語ページで2025年10月14日をサポート終了日とされています。エディションによってライフサイクルが異なる場合があるため、個別の端末については該当する製品のライフサイクル情報を確認してください。
「1年間の猶予」は現在の期限ではない
「1年間の猶予措置」は、Microsoftが2025年6月25日に発表した個人向けESUの当時の案内を指します。発表時点では、登録した個人用PCに2025年10月15日から2026年10月13日まで、重要なセキュリティ更新を提供するとされていました。

ただし、Microsoftの現在の日本語サポートページでは、個人向けESUによる保護は2027年10月12日までと案内されています。したがって、2026年10月13日を現行の一律期限として扱うのは正確ではありません。ESUの期限や登録条件は変更される可能性があるため、申し込み前に最新の案内と地域ごとの条件を確認してください。
ESUでできること、できないこと
ESUは、登録した端末にセキュリティ更新を提供する延長措置です。Windows 10の通常サポートが復活するわけではなく、機能更新や通常の技術サポートを含む、サポート中のWindowsと同等の状態にはなりません。MicrosoftのESUプログラム案内は、登録済みPCへの重要・重大なセキュリティ更新を説明し、個人・家庭向けには専用の案内を示しています。

2025年のMicrosoft Japan発表では、個人向け登録方法として、Windows Backupによる設定のクラウド同期、Microsoft Rewards 1,000ポイントの利用、または30米ドルの支払いが案内され、登録はウィザードで行うとされていました。これは発表当時の選択肢と価格です。価格は地域によって異なる可能性があり、現在の提供状況や条件が同じとは限りません。実際の登録方法は、Microsoftの現在の個人向けESU案内で確認してください。
組織向けのESUは、個人向けとはライセンスや導入手順が異なります。Microsoft Japanの2025年9月29日付サポート記事にあるMAKキー認証やオンプレミス環境向けの説明は組織利用の情報であり、家庭用PCの登録手順として流用できません。

まずWindows 11にアップグレードできるか確認する
- Windows 10のバージョンを確認する。 ESUや無償アップグレードの対象条件に関係するため、Windowsの設定画面で使用中のバージョンを確認します。
- PC Health Checkを使って互換性を調べる。 Microsoftは家庭ユーザーに、Windows 11のシステム要件とPC Health Checkでの確認を案内しています。
- 要件を満たす場合は無償アップグレードを検討する。 Microsoftによると、最低要件を満たすWindows 10 バージョン22H2のPCは、Windows 11へ無償でアップグレードできます。適用条件と手順はMicrosoftのWindows 10サポート終了後の案内で確認してください。
- 要件を満たさず、Windows 10を一時的に使い続ける必要がある場合は、個人向けESUを確認する。 登録できるか、期限や条件がどうなっているかを最新の地域別案内で確認し、移行までのつなぎとして判断します。
アップグレードできないPCはどうする？
Windows 11の要件を満たさない場合や、端末の更新が必要な場合、MicrosoftはWindows 11搭載PCへの買い替えを選択肢として示しています。機種を選ぶ際は、用途に合ったメモリーやストレージ、保証、総費用を比べてください。ここで参照できるMicrosoftの情報は、特定の機種が最適だと示すものではありません。
Windows 10上のアプリがサポート終了後も起動することはありますが、動作することとサポート対象であることは別です。Microsoft 365 Appsについても、Windows 10上でのサポートは2025年10月14日に終了しました。一方、Microsoftの2025年6月の日本向け発表では、移行期間中のMicrosoft 365 Appsのセキュリティ更新を2028年10月10日まで継続すると説明されています。アプリのサポート状況とOSのサポート状況は分けて確認してください。
