Verwijder een Win32/Virut-detectie door eerst verspreiding te beperken, daarna een volledige scan met actuele antivirussoftware uit te voeren en ten slotte detecties en beschadigde bestanden zorgvuldig af te handelen. Dit is een veilige aanpak, geen garantie dat één scan alles opruimt of dat geïnfecteerde bestanden te herstellen zijn.
Stap 1: Beperk de verspreiding
Open of kopieer geen verdachte uitvoerbare bestanden. Microsoft beschrijft dat Virut vooral .EXE– en .SCR-bestanden infecteert wanneer ze worden geopend of gekopieerd. Toegang tot beschrijfbare gedeelde mappen kan de besmetting ook naar andere computers verspreiden.

- Gebruik de verdachte computer zo min mogelijk totdat je hebt gescand.
- Beperk tijdelijk schrijfbare gedeelde mappen en gemapte stations waar dat praktisch kan.
- Open geen bestanden van onbekende of mogelijk besmette bronnen op andere computers.

Stap 2: Voer een volledige scan uit
Probeer Virut niet handmatig te verwijderen. Microsoft zegt dat handmatige verwijdering niet wordt aanbevolen en adviseert een volledige systeemscan met een bijgewerkt antivirusproduct, bijvoorbeeld Microsoft Safety Scanner. Raadpleeg de officiële Microsoft-pagina voor de actuele download en instructies; gebruik geen oude downloadlink die mogelijk niet meer geldig is.

Een volledige scan controleert het systeem uitgebreider dan een snelle scan. Volg de aanwijzingen van je beveiligingssoftware en laat die gedetecteerde bedreigingen afhandelen. De aanbeveling van Microsoft is geen belofte dat één scan voldoende is of dat ieder geïnfecteerd bestand kan worden gerepareerd.

Stap 3: Beoordeel detecties en herstel bestanden voorzichtig
Bekijk na de scan welke bestanden zijn gedetecteerd en wat de antivirussoftware ermee heeft gedaan. Herstel bestanden niet uit een quarantaine en zet ze niet terug als je niet zeker weet dat ze schoon zijn. Als programma’s zijn verwijderd of beschadigd, installeer ze opnieuw vanuit een schone, vertrouwde bron, zoals de oorspronkelijke uitgever of installatiemedia.

Wanneer je extra hulp nodig hebt
Schakel deskundige ondersteuning in als detecties terugkeren, antivirussoftware niet kan worden bijgewerkt of een belangrijk systeem is getroffen. De Microsoft-beschrijvingen geven geen universele escalatieprocedure voor zulke gevallen. Een herinstallatie is evenmin automatisch nodig in ieder geval; de geraadpleegde dreigingsinformatie schrijft dat niet voor alle infecties voor.

Microsoft beschrijft voor Virut.V een mogelijke achterdeur, maar die beschrijving bewijst niet dat iedere detectie dezelfde bijkomende functies heeft. Ook kan het openen, kopiëren of benaderen van bestanden via schrijfbare shares bijdragen aan verspreiding.
