It is possible, but the available company results do not establish that a $5,000 investment split between Nvidia and Broadcom will be worth $15,000 by 2028. Nvidia management’s preliminary outlook for about 70% fiscal 2028 revenue growth is a forecast of company revenue—not stock performance. Broadcom’s fast-growing AI semiconductor sales likewise do not guarantee a particular share return. The outcome depends on the allocation, purchase prices and dates, valuation changes, dividends, and the companies’ future results.
What “triple by 2028” means in dollars
A threefold increase turns $5,000 into $15,000 before taxes, transaction costs, and any other account-specific effects. That is a $10,000 gain. The title does not specify how the investment is divided between Nvidia (NVDA) and Broadcom (AVGO), when the shares are bought, or the exact date in 2028 when the portfolio is valued. It also does not say whether the target includes dividends.

Those details matter: there is no unique return calculation without them. A $2,500/$2,500 split bought on one date is a different investment from a $4,000/$1,000 split bought later, even if both are described as a $5,000 investment in the same two companies.
What the companies’ recent results do—and do not—show
Nvidia: rapid growth, but a revenue outlook is not a share-price forecast
Nvidia reported fiscal 2026 revenue of $215.9 billion, up 65% year over year, in its 2026 annual report. Its fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter revenue was $62.3 billion, up 75% year over year, according to the quarterly results release.

On August 26, 2026, Nvidia management gave a preliminary expectation for fiscal 2028 revenue to grow approximately 70% year over year. That is forward-looking company guidance, subject to business and supply risks—not a prediction that NVDA shares, or an investor’s money, will rise 70%. The Q2 fiscal 2027 earnings-call transcript contains the outlook. Nvidia also said it would begin including stock-based compensation expense in non-GAAP financial measures starting in fiscal 2027, so comparisons across that reporting change require care.
Broadcom: rising AI semiconductor sales, without a long-term stock target
Broadcom reported fiscal 2026 Q2 AI semiconductor revenue of $10.8 billion, up 143% year over year, in its Q2 results release. In its Q3 results release, it reported $16.7 billion in AI semiconductor revenue, up 221% year over year, and gave guidance of approximately $34.8 billion for Q4 total revenue. That Q4 figure is guidance for the next quarter’s total revenue; it is not a long-term AI forecast or an equity-return target.

These figures show substantial growth in reported business lines. They do not show what investors paid for either company’s shares, how much of that growth is already reflected in the share price, or what returns the shares will deliver. Revenue growth alone cannot determine a stock’s future return.

Why strong growth may not triple an investment
A share’s return reflects more than the company’s sales growth. It depends on the profits and cash flows the business ultimately generates, the price investors are willing to pay for them, and how that valuation changes during the holding period. Expectations can also change: a company may grow rapidly while its shares fall if results disappoint relative to what investors had already priced in.

For a two-stock portfolio, the result also depends on each holding’s contribution. One share could rise substantially while the other falls; the combined portfolio reaches $15,000 only if the holdings’ net value, plus any included dividends, reaches that threshold. The cited company releases do not provide comparable evidence for starting valuations, future earnings and cash flows, margins, customer concentration, competition, balance-sheet policies, or total shareholder return over a defined holding period. Those gaps prevent a defensible conclusion about the portfolio’s likely return.

- Allocation: Specify the dollar amount or percentage invested in each stock.
- Entry point: Set a purchase date and the share prices used to calculate the number of shares.
- End point: Choose a specific valuation date in 2028 rather than treating the whole year as one endpoint.
- Return definition: State whether the target is based on share prices alone or includes dividends, and how taxes and costs are handled.
- Scenario basis: Use a defined price-and-dividend scenario or a forecast distribution. The company revenue figures cited above do not supply either one.
Without those inputs—and evidence to support assumptions about future valuation and business performance—there is no reliable probability or return calculation to attach to “will triple.” The claim is a prediction, not a result established by the cited company reports.
