If your weapon seems weak in Minecraft Dungeons II, don’t judge it by rarity or one visible number alone. Weapons trade off power, speed, range, and attack pattern, while upgrades, buffs, enchantments, and effects across your whole loadout all influence how combat feels. Compare weapons by how they work for your build, then use the Blacksmith and Enchantsmith to improve a good fit.
Why does my weapon damage feel low?
Two weapons can feel very different even when both are viable. Mojang describes weapons in terms of power, speed, and range: a charged Powerbow hits harder, shortbows fire faster, longbows reach farther, and trickbows emphasize ricochets. A weapon’s attack cadence, reach, charge behavior, and combo pattern can matter as much as its headline power when you are fighting a particular enemy or group.

There is also no complete, officially verified damage formula or universal weapon ranking in the available official descriptions. A community reverse-engineering post published in early October 2026 argues that weapon type sets base combo damage, item power affects scaling, and effects make further changes; its author says the exact item-power formula is not established. Treat that as provisional analysis, not a confirmed in-game formula or a source of exact damage values: community item-stat analysis.

How to troubleshoot a weapon that feels underpowered
1. Compare weapons by their job, not just a number
Try a candidate weapon in the kind of encounter where you expect it to perform. Consider whether its range keeps you safe, whether its attack speed suits the target, and whether its charged or combo attacks are practical to land. Mojang’s game overview gives examples of these trade-offs, but does not publish a definitive damage-per-second ranking.
2. Upgrade a weapon you want to keep
According to Xbox Wire’s August 26, 2026 hands-on, the Blacksmith in Brave Haven can upgrade owned equipment to the highest power level currently available to you. If a weapon’s handling and effects fit your play style, check the Blacksmith before replacing it simply because a higher-power drop appeared. The source does not specify a universal upgrade cost or promise a particular damage increase.

3. Reroll a buff that does not suit your build
The same Xbox Wire hands-on says the Blacksmith can reroll an equipment buff. Use that option to tune a keeper toward the way you fight; the available official description does not quantify how much damage a particular reroll adds. See Xbox Wire’s account of the Brave Haven features.
4. Apply and improve enchantments
Mojang says books found during play are added to your personal library. At the Enchantsmith, you can apply an enchantment from that library to a chosen gear slot, then upgrade enchantments over time. Choose effects that address the problem you actually notice—such as needing a setup that better supports your attack pattern—rather than assuming every enchantment is a direct damage increase. The official explanation is in Minecraft Dungeons II Gameplay systems.

5. Check effects across the entire loadout
Weapons are only part of the equipped kit. Xbox Wire describes an Effects and Enchantments menu that consolidates effects from weapons, armor, and talismans. Review it when a build feels weaker or a change produces an unexpected result; it helps you see what the equipped setup contributes instead of blaming the weapon alone.
6. Earn more gear and books by repeating content
Xbox Wire’s September 28, 2026 preview describes repeatable encounters and dungeons as opportunities to obtain gear and Enchantment Books. It also says Echo Shards can upgrade merchants, Blacksmiths, and equipment. The preview does not provide current drop rates, so use repeated runs to develop your options rather than expecting a guaranteed item or a specific number of upgrades: Xbox Wire on the interconnected world.
