The Xiaomi 17 Ultra and OPPO Find X9 Ultra share Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but their camera hardware takes different approaches: Xiaomi pairs a 50MP main camera with a 1-inch sensor and a 75–100mm-equivalent telephoto, while OPPO lists four rear cameras, including separate 200MP and 50MP long-range modules. OPPO also lists a larger typical battery. In TechRadar’s April 2026 UK price reports, the 512GB Xiaomi was £150 cheaper. Those specifications and prices don’t settle which phone takes better photos or lasts longer in everyday use; the right choice depends on your preferred camera range, local price and support.

Which phone has the better camera setup?
The hardware suggests different priorities, not a proven overall winner. Xiaomi emphasizes its 1-inch main sensor and a telephoto with a published 75–100mm-equivalent range. OPPO lists a 200MP main camera and separate telephoto and ultra-telephoto modules, giving it a more explicitly multi-camera arrangement for distant subjects.
Xiaomi: large-sensor main camera and variable-range telephoto
Xiaomi’s listed rear system comprises a 50MP main camera with a 1-inch sensor and optical image stabilization, a 200MP OIS telephoto covering 75–100mm equivalent, and a 50MP ultra-wide with a 14mm-equivalent focal length. That combination makes the published hardware especially straightforward to assess if you value the main sensor or want a telephoto in that stated focal-length range.

OPPO: four listed rear cameras, including two long-range modules
OPPO specifies a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide, a 200MP telephoto and a separate 50MP ultra-telephoto. Its distinct long-range modules may appeal if you want dedicated camera options across telephoto ranges. The megapixel counts alone do not establish detail, color, low-light performance or the quality of zoom between cameras.
No controlled head-to-head results establish which phone takes better pictures overall. To choose on image quality, look for comparable samples or tests covering daylight, indoor and night scenes, portraits, moving subjects and multiple zoom levels. Treat claims that one is categorically better as reviewer preference unless they are tied to evidence from comparable conditions.

Battery capacity and charging
OPPO’s Singapore specifications list a 7,050mAh typical battery, with a rated capacity of 6,890mAh, and charging up to 100W wired and 50W wireless. Xiaomi lists a 6,000mAh typical battery, 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. On the published figures, OPPO has the larger typical capacity and higher wired charging ceiling; those numbers do not by themselves prove longer battery life or faster charging in every situation.

Display figures need a regional check
For Xiaomi, the global product page describes a 6.9-inch display, while the India specifications page gives 2608 × 1200 resolution and a 1–120Hz refresh rate. TechRadar’s review table reports 6.9 inches, 3120 × 1440 and 120Hz. These figures should not be merged into one definitive specification: check the Xiaomi page for your market and exact model.

OPPO Singapore lists a 6.82-inch display at 3168 × 1440 with an adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate, and says it can reach 144Hz in some game scenarios. That gaming figure is conditional, not a general refresh-rate specification.
Match the storage tier and local variant
TechRadar’s reviewed global Xiaomi configuration has 16GB RAM and either 512GB or 1TB of storage. OPPO Singapore lists 12GB RAM/512GB and 16GB RAM/1TB. The reported UK £1,449 OPPO price is for the 12GB/512GB model, so compare it with Xiaomi’s 512GB version rather than an unmatched storage tier.

TechRadar lists HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 for Xiaomi and ColorOS 16 based on Android 16 for OPPO. Software preference is personal; update-support duration is not established by these launch-version details. Check each company’s current support terms in your country before buying.
What is the price difference?
In TechRadar’s April 2026 UK reporting, Xiaomi cost £1,299 for 512GB and £1,499 for 1TB. OPPO’s UK 12GB/512GB version was reported at £1,449. Comparing the two 512GB listings, the Xiaomi was £150 less in that publication-era snapshot. It is not a guaranteed current checkout price, and the OPPO configuration has 12GB RAM versus 16GB in TechRadar’s cited Xiaomi configuration.

TechRadar also reported an Australian price of AU$1,799 for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra with 512GB. The cited material does not establish a directly comparable Australian OPPO price, so it does not support an Australia-specific price gap. TechRadar said the Xiaomi and OPPO were not officially available in the US at the time of its respective reports; availability may have changed since then.
Availability and what to verify before buying
OPPO announced on March 3, 2026, that the Find X9 Ultra would make its global debut later that year, describing it as the first expansion of its Ultra platform beyond China. TechRadar subsequently reported UK availability from May 8, 2026. Neither statement guarantees availability in every country. Xiaomi release and availability also depend on market.
Before placing an order, verify the exact regional model and seller listing:
- Price and configuration: Check the live price, RAM and storage tier; offers and stock can change.
- Local variant: Confirm display and other specifications on the manufacturer’s page for your country rather than combining regional figures.
- Network compatibility: Check the model’s supported cellular bands against your carrier, especially if buying an import.
- Warranty and service: Confirm that the seller’s warranty and repair support apply where you live.
- Software support: Look up update commitments for the exact market and model; launch Android version alone does not specify how long updates continue.
Which one should you buy?
- Consider Xiaomi if its 1-inch main sensor, 75–100mm-equivalent telephoto, preferred software or lower reported UK 512GB price better fits your priorities.
- Consider OPPO if its four-camera layout, separate 200MP telephoto and 50MP ultra-telephoto, or larger published typical battery capacity is more relevant to how you use a phone.
- Choose by evidence, not resolution figures alone if camera quality is decisive: compare samples or controlled tests from both phones in the subjects and lighting you care about.
- Make the final comparison locally using equivalent storage tiers and confirmed availability, network support, warranty and current price.
Both models use the same named Snapdragon platform, so the chipset label does not distinguish them. Their published camera designs, battery capacities, configurations and local prices provide more useful decision points; none of those specifications alone settles overall performance or image quality.
