If your Hotels.com promo code is rejected, first check the payment option: Hotels.com says a booking is not coupon-eligible when the hotel or vacation rental collects payment only at the property. A qualifying Pay Now rate may let you apply the code. Then check the offer’s own terms and use the coupon field at checkout.
Check whether the booking is eligible for a coupon
Hotels.com excludes hotels and vacation rentals that only collect payment at the property. Look for a Pay Now rate instead, if one is available for your stay. The specific offer’s terms may set additional conditions, so review those as well. Hotels.com’s coupon guidance explains the payment restriction and checkout process.

Apply the code in the right place
On the Hotels.com website
- Proceed to Reserve for the booking.
- Choose the eligible Pay Now payment option.
- Select Apply a coupon, enter the code, and follow the checkout prompts.
In the Hotels.com app
At checkout, look for Apply a coupon below the payment details and before you enter personal information.

- Confirm that you entered the code on Hotels.com checkout and check the offer’s validity dates and conditions.
- Try another rate or stay that offers Pay Now, if available.
- Note the exact error message and contact Hotels.com support if the offer’s terms and your booking appear to qualify. The general coupon guidance does not identify the cause of every individual rejection; the offer, itinerary, payment option, and error all matter.
Other ways to look for a lower price
Check Member Prices
Hotels.com says Member Prices are available to signed-in app users and One Key members on selected hotels and dates, subject to terms. This is a separate savings option from a coupon and is not offered on every stay. See Hotels.com’s Member Prices information.

Review the price guarantee before making a claim
If you find a lower price elsewhere, check Hotels.com’s current price-guarantee requirements and exclusions to see whether your comparison qualifies. A lower displayed price alone does not establish that a claim is eligible.
