Is YouTube the only app that is not working?
Open another streaming app or run the TV’s internet connection test. If several apps fail, the problem is more likely to involve the TV’s connection or home network than YouTube alone. LG notes that unstable network connections can prevent apps from loading. LG’s app troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the connection as part of diagnosing app loading problems.

If other apps work normally, focus on YouTube. A working app does not prove that every part of the connection is healthy, so a separate-network test can still help later.
What to try when the YouTube app won’t open or play videos
Restart the TV and check for updates
- Turn the TV off, unplug it from power, wait briefly, then plug it back in and start it again.
- Check the LG Content Store or the TV’s app-management area for a YouTube update. Menu names and locations can vary by TV model and webOS version.
- Check the TV’s software settings for a system update as well.
YouTube recommends restarting the device and checking for app updates when troubleshooting video errors. Its guidance says most smart TVs and streaming devices update apps automatically, but that does not guarantee the same update behavior on every LG model. Update or reinstall YouTube if only that app fails
If YouTube remains the only app that will not load, update it if an update is available. If that does not help, delete the app and install it again from the LG Content Store. Connect the TV to a phone’s hotspot, then try YouTube again. This test helps distinguish a home-network problem from a problem that follows the TV or app.

- YouTube works on the hotspot: The TV is working normally in LG’s troubleshooting guidance. Check the home Wi-Fi router or contact your internet provider.
- YouTube still fails on the hotspot: The issue may be with the TV or app installation. If restarting, updating, and reinstalling have not helped, contact LG support or YouTube support; LG says the TV may need inspection.

What to check if YouTube is missing from the LG TV
Search for YouTube in the LG Content Store, which YouTube identifies as the installation route for LG TVs. Availability depends on the TV model and region; the app may not be offered for every combination. YouTube’s smart-TV app installation help

If the app does not appear, check these LG settings and requirements:
- Confirm the TV is connected to the internet.
- Sign in to an LG account if the TV requires it for app installation.
- Check that the TV’s LG Services Country is set to the country where you use the TV.
- Make sure the TV has enough storage for the app.
- Review and accept any required user agreements.

When to reset the TV—or avoid resetting it
A factory reset is a later step, not the first fix. It returns the TV’s settings to their out-of-box state, so expect to set up your preferences and connections again. Try the restart, app update or reinstall, and hotspot test first. Is this YouTube or YouTube TV?
The standard YouTube app and YouTube TV are separate services. Home-area and current-playback-location settings apply to YouTube TV troubleshooting, not to the standard YouTube app. If you meant YouTube TV, use YouTube TV’s streaming troubleshooting guidance instead.
If the LG app still does not work
If YouTube is unavailable for your model or continues to fail after troubleshooting, you can use a separate streaming device that supports the YouTube app. YouTube lists Fire TV among the platforms where its app can be downloaded; the right option depends on your model availability, network test results, and whether you want to add another device.
