Most Bluetooth connection failures come down to one of two things: the headphones are not discoverable, or the phone, tablet, or computer is trying to use a stale or competing connection. Check charge and distance first, then put the headphones into their model-specific pairing mode. If they still will not connect, forget the saved pairing and work through the source device’s Bluetooth settings.
Start with charge, power, and distance
Charge the headphones, switch them off and back on, and keep them close to the phone, tablet, or computer while pairing. Microsoft notes that low battery can prevent some Bluetooth devices from entering pairing mode or maintaining a connection, and recommends fully charging them before trying again: Microsoft’s Windows Bluetooth troubleshooting guide.

Distance limits depend on the model and surroundings. For example, the iHome B90 manual lists an operating range of approximately 10 meters (33 feet); that is a specification for the B90, not a universal Bluetooth guarantee. Pair nearby to rule out range as a factor.
Put the headphones into pairing mode
Turning headphones on does not necessarily make them visible to other devices. Activate pairing mode using the instructions for the exact make and model. Samsung likewise advises that pairing steps vary by manufacturer and model: Samsung’s Galaxy Bluetooth troubleshooting guide.

The iHome B90 is one model-specific example: its manual says to start with the headphones off and hold the multifunction button for about six seconds, until a pairing prompt and alternating blue/red indicator appear. Do not assume that button, timing, prompt, or light pattern applies to another pair of children’s headphones.
Select the headphones on the phone, tablet, or computer
- Turn on Bluetooth on the intended source device.
- Open that device’s Bluetooth settings and look for available devices.
- Select the headphone name and accept any pairing prompt shown on either device.
Settings names and menus vary by device and software version. If the headphones do not appear, confirm they are still in pairing mode and nearby before trying again.

Forget an old pairing and connect again
If the headphones appear as a saved device but will not connect, remove or forget that entry from the source device. Then put the headphones back into pairing mode and pair them as a new device. Microsoft recommends removing and re-adding a Bluetooth device in Windows 10 and 11; Samsung documents unpairing and reconnecting on Galaxy devices.

Check whether another device has taken the connection
Headphones may automatically reconnect to a previously paired family phone, tablet, or computer. The iHome B90 manual explicitly describes this auto-link behavior. Temporarily turn Bluetooth off on other nearby devices the headphones have used before, or disconnect the headphones from them, then try pairing with the intended source.

Reset only by following the exact model’s instructions
There is no universal headphone reset sequence. A reset may erase Bluetooth data, requiring you to forget the headphones on the source and pair again. Consult the manufacturer’s manual or official support page for the specific model before resetting.
The differences matter: the iHome B90 manual says to hold its “>>” button for three to four seconds to reset Bluetooth and re-enter pairing mode. JBL’s Junior Series instructions list different sequences for different models, including holds of 10–12 seconds for several models and more than five seconds for others: JBL Junior Series factory-reset procedures.

Troubleshoot the source device
If pairing still fails, toggle Bluetooth off and back on, restart the phone, tablet, or computer, and install any available software updates. If possible, try the headphones with another compatible source device. If they connect there, the original source’s settings or software may be involved; if they fail on multiple sources, the headphones may need manufacturer support. This comparison is a practical way to narrow down the problem, not a definitive hardware test.
Windows
For Windows 10 or 11, follow Microsoft’s Bluetooth troubleshooting steps, including the Get Help Bluetooth troubleshooter. Its guidance covers checking Bluetooth settings, removing and re-adding a device, and other connection checks.

Samsung Galaxy
Samsung’s guidance includes Bluetooth settings reset and Samsung Members diagnostics on supported Galaxy devices. Treat a connection-settings reset as a later step: Samsung warns that it removes saved Bluetooth and Wi-Fi information, so you may need to reconnect other devices and networks.
If Bluetooth still will not work
Check the headphone maker’s support and warranty options for the exact model. Some headphones also support wired audio, but do not assume yours does: the iHome B90 manual documents an auxiliary jack and cable, while other models may not have either. A wired fallback works only when the headphones and source both have compatible ports. The B90 manual also states that it has no user-serviceable parts; do not open or attempt internal repairs on that model.
If replacement is warranted, compare compatibility with the child’s source device, clear pairing and reset instructions, fit and age range, warranty support, and a wired option if your family needs one. A new pair will not solve a Bluetooth problem caused by the phone, tablet, or computer.
