Titanfall 2’s fast movement can feel uncomfortable in VR because the game moves the view while your body stays still. The documented alpha mod also has a separate camera issue: in rendered 3D cutscenes, the image follows your head instead of staying fixed to the scene. Try snap turning, lower render resolution if you encounter frame hitches, and keep your head still during those cutscenes. These adjustments may help, but none is a guaranteed fix.
Which Titanfall 2 VR mod and version does this apply to?
The details here refer to the TinyBlkDog Titanfall 2 VR project, documented as an alpha mod for the single-player campaign and implemented as a Northstar client plugin using OpenXR. Its README identifies v0.1.1 as the documented version. The project says it was developed and tested with Meta Quest 3 and Play For Dream MR headsets through Virtual Desktop’s VDXR runtime; other headsets and runtimes are untested, not necessarily incompatible. The documented requirements are Titanfall 2, Northstar, an OpenXR runtime, and a PC-VR-capable GPU. These are the project’s own test-scope statements, not independent compatibility verification. Why can Titanfall 2 VR cause motion sickness?
Fast movement without matching physical movement
Running, jumping, wall-running, and sliding move the game world rapidly around you. In VR, your eyes can register that movement even though your body is not physically moving in the same way. Meta’s developer guidance explains that motion sickness can occur when what a person sees and how they move do not match. That general explanation does not mean every player will feel sick, or that one Titanfall 2 action is universally responsible. Meta’s comfort guidance is general VR advice, not a Titanfall 2 user study.

The mod documents both smooth and snap turning. Smooth turning continuously rotates the view; snap turning moves it in discrete steps without rendering the turn as a sweep. The project’s controls reference describes snap turning as a way to help with motion sickness. That is a design rationale, not evidence from a controlled comparison showing that it works for everyone.

Rendered 3D cutscenes have a head-locked camera issue
For v0.1.1, the project lists an open issue in which the rendered 3D cutscene camera is pinned to the user’s head. As you turn your head, the picture moves with you rather than remaining anchored to the scene. The project advises keeping your head still through these short cutscenes as a workaround. It is not a fix, and it may not be comfortable or sufficient for every player. The issue is described in the project’s known-issues documentation.
Frame hitches can add another source of discomfort
The project’s known-issues documentation reports periodic frame stalls and stalls during level loads. Irregular motion or judder can be uncomfortable; Meta’s general locomotion guidance recommends a consistent frame rate. A hitch is a separate possible trigger from fast movement or the cutscene camera problem. The documentation does not establish that the mod causes every reported stall.

Comfort varies from person to person
People can have different comfort triggers, and the project documents no configuration that is safe or symptom-free for everyone. Meta recommends customizable locomotion options, but its general guidance does not establish that every suggested option—such as a vignette—is available in this particular mod. Avoid assuming a setting exists unless it appears in your installed version.
What adjustments are supported by the documentation?
Try snap turning instead of smooth turning
In the mod’s settings, switch the turning mode to snap and adjust the snap angle and response until the steps feel tolerable. Start with deliberate, small adjustments rather than assuming one angle suits everyone. The documented rationale is that snap turning avoids the continuous visual sweep of smooth turning; it is not a medical guarantee.

Lower render resolution if the frame rate is poor
The README gives 75% of headset panel height as the project’s documented default. It says to lower resolution when frame rate is poor, and to raise it only when the image looks too soft and frame rate remains fine. Lower resolution trades some image sharpness for rendering headroom; it is not a general motion-sickness switch and will not address every cause of discomfort.
Keep your head still during the affected cutscenes
For the head-locked rendered 3D cutscene issue, the project’s stated workaround is to keep your head still during the short scene. This does not repair the camera behavior. If it remains uncomfortable, pausing or stopping is a reasonable response rather than trying to push through symptoms.

Troubleshoot stalls as performance or link problems, not as a proven diagnosis
For in-play stalls, the project recommends lowering resolution as an initial troubleshooting step. For stalls it tentatively associates with the headset link or runtime, it suggests experiments such as a wired connection, a lower streaming bitrate, or another codec. The link explanation is explicitly a hypothesis, so these are troubleshooting options—not established causes or proven treatments for motion sickness.
