The Enforcement Directorate says its searches at premises linked to TDI Group are part of an ongoing money-laundering investigation into the Gurgaon-Manesar land case and transactions with Atul Bansal’s ABWIL group. The allegations concern land bought while acquisition was anticipated and later sold after the acquisition process lapsed. The searches are investigative steps, not a finding of guilt.
Why did the ED search TDI Group?
The ED’s official website says its Chandigarh office searched premises linked to TDI Group chairperson Ravinder Taneja in connection with an ongoing probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002. The agency describes the probe as linked to the 2015 Gurgaon-Manesar land scam and transactions with Atul Bansal’s ABWIL group. ED statement

Hindustan Times reported that the searches took place on September 26, 2026, at business and residential premises linked to TDI Group in New Delhi and Mohali. The report said the operation was conducted by the ED’s Chandigarh Zone-I office. Hindustan Times report, October 3, 2026
What is the Gurgaon-Manesar land case about?
According to the ED’s account as reported by Hindustan Times, more than 400 acres in Manesar, Naurangpur and Lakhnoula had been notified for acquisition in 2007. Private builders and intermediaries allegedly bought land from farmers at low prices while acquisition by the Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) was anticipated. The acquisition process later lapsed and the award was dropped; the agency alleges that land was then sold at substantially higher prices.

The reported acreage and account are allegations attributed to the ED, not a judicial finding. The ED’s indexed statement confirms the broad connection to the land case but does not itself provide the acreage details.
What connection does the ED allege between TDI and the land transactions?
Hindustan Times reported that the ED identified TDI Group, led by Ravinder Taneja, as an intermediary. The agency reportedly alleges that TDI-linked entities Indo Asian Construction Co, NCR Properties and Divya Jyoti Enterprises bought nearly 33 acres from farmers between 2005 and 2007, then sold the land to the Atul Bansal group at a profit.

Hindustan Times said the ED seized or identified project records, files, digital devices, computers, hard disks, servers and luxury vehicles as alleged proceeds of crime. The report also described a search lasting about 53 hours at TDI House in Sector 119. The agency was continuing to scrutinize the material, alleged assets and company financial affairs at the time of publication. Records relating to other projects had also surfaced and were under examination, the report said.

The presence of records or assets during a search does not by itself prove that they are proceeds of crime. Their significance remains subject to the investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings.

The ED says the TDI-linked searches form part of an ongoing PMLA investigation arising from a CBI FIR. The cited reporting describes allegations about land purchases and resale, the search operation, and continuing scrutiny of records and assets.
