The warning was conditional: if the situation escalated, Venris said, the mod could be made private. The contemporaneous reports attribute those claims to Venris; they do not independently verify the reuploads, their contents or who made them.
Why did the creator corrupt SFO: Grimhammer III?
In a Patreon post quoted by IGN, Venris said unauthorized reuploads of SFO were being made for updated game versions and that AI was used in the process. Venris said they deliberately corrupted the mod so it would not function with those uploads, objecting both to the lack of permission and to the AI use. This is the creator’s account as reported at the time, not an independently established finding about unidentified uploaders.

Venris framed the issue as control over nearly a decade of creative work, writing that SFO was the result of “nearly ten years of passion and love for this community and the fantasy world.” That duration is Venris’s own description, not an independently measured development history. The quoted post concluded: “Support modders, not AI.”

Is SFO: Grimhammer III going private?
Venris reportedly warned, “If this situation continues to escalate, I will make SFO: Grimhammer III private.” That statement makes privacy a possible response to further escalation, not an announcement that the mod had already gone private. The reporting reviewed here does not establish whether the creator later acted on the warning.

- Daemons Of Nurgle Plague bearers
- This multi-part plastic kit contains the 74 components, with which to make 10 Plague bearers of Nurgle.
- Supplied with 10 Citadel 32mm Round bases.
A separate report by Rock Paper Shotgun said Venris stated that a ready update would be released on Steam, “Nowhere else,” and that the mod would not be paywalled. Treat that as a promise reported at the time, not proof that a later update was released.
What is SFO: Grimhammer III?
The Steam Workshop listing describes SFO: Grimhammer III as a total overhaul for Total War: WARHAMMER III. It changes campaign and battle content to create a more lore-friendly Warhammer experience, while emphasizing fun gameplay. The team describes it as a different experience from the vanilla game, not necessarily a better one.

How to check you are using the official mod
If you want to play SFO or install an update, start from its official Steam Workshop listing rather than a copied upload. Check the listing’s current status and instructions against your installed game version: an older or third-party copy may not match the current release, and the evidence available does not establish that any alleged AI-derived compatibility patch is authorized.
- Open the official SFO: Grimhammer III Steam Workshop page.
- Review its current update status and release information, then compare them with your installed Total War: WARHAMMER III version.
- Use the official listing’s Steam subscription and installation route, and follow any creator-posted compatibility guidance there.
Steam’s listing can change as the game and mod are updated, so its live status is more useful for installation decisions than an old copied page or cached claim.
