Residents quoted in an October 2, 2026, Hindustan Times report describe recurring garbage dumping, irregular waste lifting, damaged roads and dust in several Ludhiana localities. The report attributes the road damage largely to ongoing 24×7 water-supply project work, but gives no completion or repair date. It also conflicts on whether the complaints concern Ward 36 or Ward 38, so the ward assignment is not settled by the published story.
What residents say is wrong
Garbage is repeatedly accumulating
In Lohara, residents describe mixed waste spilling onto roadsides and recurring dumping. Local resident Manveer Kaur said: “The garbage has effectively become part of the road. People throw waste here, and after some time, the entire roadside is covered. We need regular lifting and a system to stop recurring dumping.”

Her complaint points to two distinct requests: more consistent waste collection and action to prevent the same sites from being used for repeated dumping. The report does not provide collection schedules or measured waste volumes.

Residents in Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, Gurbachan Colony, Gobind Nagar, Sunder Nagar, New Ram Nagar, Satjot Nagar, Gill Colony and Sukhdev Nagar report damaged, uneven or unpaved stretches and dust that make everyday travel difficult. Sonu, a resident of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, described conditions on Barota Road: “Driving on these roads is uncomfortable. The surface is broken, and temporary repairs will not solve the problem.”

What local officials say
Councillor cites sanitation staffing and political support
Councillor Satnam Singh says a shortage of sanitation staff hampers regular cleanliness. He also says his ward receives insufficient support because he belongs to the opposition party. These are the councillor’s explanations; the report does not independently verify staffing levels or the ward’s allocation of municipal support.

Commissioner links road damage to water-supply work
Zonal-C commissioner Gurpal Singh says the 24×7 water-supply project is underway and has affected roads in several areas. He said repairs would be taken up after the project is completed and sanitation issues would be addressed “as soon as possible.” The report gives no project completion date, repair schedule or work order, so it does not establish when residents can expect the roads to be restored.

Which ward is covered?
The ward number is unresolved in the Hindustan Times story. Its headline and final paragraph identify Ward 36, but the opening body refers to Ward 38. The report names several localities but does not establish that every listed locality belongs to either ward. Confirm the ward assignment with the municipal corporation or the reporter before treating these complaints as definitively belonging to Ward 36.
