PS5 Game Help cards are selective, not universal. PlayStation Support says Game Help appears only in supported games and only for objectives specifically marked with Game Help. If a title or objective is not supported, there is no documented setting that can force a card to appear.
When help is available, press the PS button during the game, open the Control Center, select the card marked Game Help, and choose a marked objective. If the objective includes a video, select Play. The steps below separate normal feature limits from genuine game, license, or launch problems.

What a missing Game Help card usually means
A blank or absent card does not, by itself, indicate a broken PS5. Game Help is content supplied for particular games and activities. PlayStation describes it as hints, tips, or walkthrough videos that may be available depending on the game, the player’s location in the game, and the activity currently being performed. Only objectives marked with Game Help have associated guidance.

- The game does not support Game Help at all.
- The game supports Game Help, but the current objective is not one of the marked objectives.
- The help is available only after you reach the relevant activity, so the card is not useful from every screen or at every point in the story.
In any of those cases, changing licenses, rebuilding storage databases, or buying another controller will not create new help content. First establish whether the title and objective are supported.

What Game Help includes—and what it does not promise
Game Help is not a universal walkthrough database. Depending on the supplied content, a card may contain a short hint, a fuller tip, or a walkthrough video. Support can be limited to selected objectives, and a supported title can still have missions with no attached guidance. The feature therefore has two separate eligibility questions: does the game support Game Help, and is this particular objective marked?
Video is optional rather than guaranteed. When a video exists, the card exposes Play; when it does not, the card may provide text guidance only. Likewise, closed captions, audio controls, multitasking, and pinning are available only for help types that support those options. Their absence is not proof that the card is defective.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHow to open Game Help when it is available
- Start the supported PS5 game and play until the activity or objective you want to solve is active.
- Press the PS button on the DualSense controller to open the Control Center.
- Look for the card labeled Game Help and select it.
- Choose an objective that is marked as having Game Help.
- Read the hint or walkthrough shown on the card. If a video is offered, select Play.
Some help contains spoiler-sensitive information. An activity may therefore be hidden until you follow the on-screen instructions to reveal it. A card that seems empty can be waiting for that reveal rather than malfunctioning.
Keep the guide visible while you play
Where the help type supports it, open the card’s options and use Multitasking, then Pin to Side. This keeps the guide alongside the game instead of requiring you to reopen the Control Center. The options button may also expose closed-caption, audio, or multitasking choices for certain types of help; those controls are not guaranteed for every card.
Check support before troubleshooting the console
Use this order so you do not treat an expected content limitation as a hardware fault.
1. Confirm that the game is a supported title
PlayStation does not promise Game Help for every PS5 game. A card cannot be restored when the publisher has not supplied Game Help for that title. Check the game’s own available objectives and the official Game Help guidance rather than assuming that another player’s screenshot applies to your edition or region.
2. Confirm that the objective is marked
Even in a supported game, only objectives marked with Game Help have help attached. Open the Game Help card and inspect the objective list. A missing walkthrough for one mission does not prove that the entire feature is failing; that mission may simply not be marked.
3. Check the in-game context
Game Help can depend on where you are or what you are doing. Return to the active objective, leave unrelated menus, and press the PS button again. The card may become relevant only after the game registers the activity. This is a content-context check, not a guarantee that a card exists.

4. Look for hidden spoiler-controlled activities
Some details are concealed to avoid spoilers. Follow the instructions shown on the card to reveal hidden activities. Do not interpret a concealed activity as missing data until you have completed that reveal step.
Requirements and limits at a glance
- Supported game: The title must have Game Help supplied for the PS5 experience you are playing.
- Supported objective: The mission or activity must carry the Game Help marking.
- Relevant context: The objective may need to be active before the card displays useful guidance.
- Reveal step: Spoiler-protected activities can stay hidden until you follow the card’s instructions.
- Optional features: Video, captions, audio, multitasking, and pinning depend on the individual help item.
- No purchase requirement: Game Help is accessed through the PS5 interface; no accessory, printed guide, or repair tool supplies missing digital content.
These limits also explain why two players can report different behavior without either console being faulty. They may be playing different objectives, editions, regions, or stages of the same game.
Decision table: feature limit or a separate PS5 problem?
The symptom you see determines which support path makes sense. Game Help availability and game licensing are different systems.
| What you see | Most likely explanation | Useful next action |
|---|---|---|
| No Game Help card for a game | The title may not support Game Help. | Check whether the game is listed as supported; there is no documented force-enable procedure. |
| A card exists, but one mission has no help | That objective is not marked with Game Help, or it is not the current activity. | Choose a marked objective and return to the active activity in the game. |
| A spoiler-sensitive activity is hidden | The card is withholding details until they are revealed. | Follow the on-screen reveal instructions. |
| The game is locked or an add-on is unavailable | A license or account problem, separate from Game Help. | Restore licenses and follow PlayStation’s game-launch guidance. |
| The game crashes or will not start | A launch, system-software, service, or license issue. | Use the launch troubleshooting sequence; do not assume it will add Game Help content. |
When restoring licenses is appropriate
PlayStation lists license restoration for symptoms such as a locked game, a game or add-on that cannot be located, or a game that crashes. On PS5, the path is:
Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses
Follow the on-screen process, then retry the affected game. The official license page is PlayStation Support’s “How to restore licenses on PlayStation consoles”.
Restoring licenses is not a documented remedy for an absent Game Help card. It verifies access to purchased content; it does not add walkthroughs to a game that has no supported Game Help objective. Use it when the underlying symptom is a lock, missing game or add-on, or crash—not merely because the Control Center lacks a help card.
When to use game-launch troubleshooting
If the game itself will not launch, separate that failure from the help-card question. PlayStation’s launch guidance covers account and license checks, checking PlayStation service status, updating PS5 system software, restarting the console, and using Safe Mode options where appropriate. Read the regional guidance at PlayStation Support’s “How to troubleshoot issues when starting a game”.
Use that sequence for a game that refuses to start, closes unexpectedly, or becomes unavailable. None of those steps is documented as a way to manufacture Game Help for an unsupported title or objective. If the game launches normally and only the card is absent, return to the support and objective checks instead of escalating immediately to Safe Mode.

Separate the symptoms before changing settings
- Game launches, but no card appears: investigate title and objective support first.
- Game is locked or missing: check the signed-in account and restore licenses.
- Game crashes: apply the launch and license guidance, then test the game again.
- Game will not start: check service status, system software, restart options, and the Safe Mode instructions in the launch article.
This separation prevents a valid Game Help limitation from being misdiagnosed as a console defect.
Community Game Help videos have their own settings
Community Game Help is a participation feature, not a promise that every game receives a card. To inspect its setting, go to:
Settings > Captures & Broadcasts > Auto Captures > Community Game Help > Participate
PlayStation says participation is available only to adult accounts. The feature has a monthly capture limit and provides a view of videos that have been published. The availability of community videos still depends on the supported game and activity; opting in does not guarantee a Game Help card for every title.
What opting out does
Turning participation off stops future capture and upload and removes the participant’s published videos. That controls your contribution to Community Game Help; it does not remove the broader requirement that a game and objective must support Game Help in the first place.

Common mistaken fixes—and what they actually address
“Restore licenses to make the card appear”
License restoration addresses ownership and access symptoms. PlayStation does not say it restores missing Game Help content. Run it for a locked or missing game, not as a general card-repair step.
“Rebuild the database or use Safe Mode”
Safe Mode belongs to broader launch and system troubleshooting. The cited support material does not establish that rebuilding a database or selecting another Safe Mode option creates Game Help cards. Escalate there only when the game has a launch or system symptom covered by the launch guidance.
“Update the console and every game”
Keeping system software current can be part of resolving games that will not start, but the launch guidance does not promise that an update adds help objectives. An update is not evidence that a previously unsupported title will gain Game Help.

“Buy a different accessory”
Game Help is opened through the PS5 Control Center. A second controller, media remote, printed manual, or repair tool does not supply the missing digital card. If the console otherwise operates normally, accessory replacement is unrelated to this feature.
A practical troubleshooting checklist
- Launch the game and reach the objective you want to solve.
- Press the PS button and inspect the Control Center for the Game Help card.
- If the card is present, open it and select an objective explicitly marked Game Help.
- If details are hidden, follow the card’s reveal instructions before concluding that content is absent.
- If no card or objective appears, verify that the title and activity are supported; accept that unsupported content has no documented force-enable method.
- If the real symptom is a lock, missing game or add-on, or crash, use Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses.
- If the game will not launch, follow the account, service-status, system-software, restart, and Safe Mode steps in PlayStation’s launch guide.
- If the issue concerns community videos, inspect Settings > Captures & Broadcasts > Auto Captures > Community Game Help > Participate and confirm that the account is eligible.
What you can and cannot conclude from the card
An available card confirms that PlayStation has supplied help for at least one supported objective in the current context. It does not mean every mission has a walkthrough, every help type includes video, or every card offers captions, audio, and pinning. Those controls appear only where the particular help type supports them.
An absent card confirms only that help is not currently being presented. It does not identify the cause by itself. The evidence-supported possibilities are an unsupported title, an unmarked objective, a different in-game context, or hidden spoiler-controlled details. A locked, crashing, missing, or non-launching game is a separate class of problem handled by account, license, service, software, restart, or Safe Mode guidance.
Frequently asked questions
Do all PS5 games have Game Help?
No. PlayStation describes Game Help as available for supported games, and only selected objectives within those games are marked. A game can run perfectly while offering no Game Help card at all.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Why does another mission have help but mine does not?
The other mission may be one of the objectives marked with Game Help. Check the objective list in the card and make sure the activity you want is active; an unmarked mission has no associated card content.
Can I force Game Help on with a setting?
No documented setting forces a card onto an unsupported game or objective. The correct first step is confirming support, not rebuilding storage or changing account settings.
Why is a Game Help activity hidden?
Some guidance is hidden to reduce spoilers. Follow the on-screen instructions on the card to reveal the activity. Until then, concealed details should not be treated as missing content.
Does restoring licenses fix a missing Game Help card?
Not according to PlayStation’s documented uses for license restoration. Restore licenses for a locked game, missing game or add-on, or certain crashes. It does not add help objectives to a title that lacks them.

Can a child account use Community Game Help?
PlayStation says participation in Community Game Help is available only to adult accounts. If the issue concerns viewing supplied help rather than uploading community captures, inspect the game and objective support separately.
What happens if I opt out of Community Game Help?
Opting out stops future capture and upload and removes your published videos. It does not remove other Game Help supplied for supported games, and opting in does not guarantee coverage.
Do I need to buy a controller or guide?
No. The feature is accessed through the PS5 Control Center. Accessories and printed manuals cannot generate a digital Game Help card that Sony or the game publisher did not supply.

Bottom line
Start with availability, not repair: press the PS button, open the Game Help card, and look for an objective marked Game Help. If the game or objective is unsupported, the missing card is expected and there is no documented setting to force it on. Restore licenses or use launch troubleshooting only when the game itself is locked, missing, crashing, or unable to start. Community Game Help settings affect participation and uploads, not guaranteed coverage.
For the feature’s official behavior and navigation, see PlayStation Support’s “How to use Game Help on PS5 consoles”.
