Movement from HVAC equipment, people, the building, traffic or construction can disturb that stability, particularly during intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). The practical goal is to protect handling accuracy and observation quality—not to claim that an isolation table by itself improves fertilization, embryo viability, implantation or live-birth rates.
What vibration can disrupt in an IVF lab
IVF work combines high-magnification microscopy with mechanical manipulation measured in very small movements. When a microscope, stage or micromanipulator moves relative to the sample, the operator may see a shaking field, lose a precise position or need to pause and re-establish alignment. That can make routine handling more difficult and add avoidable variability to a process that depends on controlled motion.

Kinetic Systems’ IVF laboratory guidance, published April 1, 2025, identifies several possible sources: heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems; movement by staff and visitors; vibration transmitted through the building structure; road or other traffic; and construction. The page does not rank these sources by frequency or severity, so a laboratory should assess its own environment rather than assume one source is always responsible.
Microscopy and observation
A stable microscope field helps embryologists locate, hold and assess cells without continuous image movement. Even when a vibration does not stop a procedure, it can increase the operator’s workload, complicate imaging and make fine adjustments harder to perform consistently.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
ICSI micromanipulation
ICSI involves positioning a pipette and manipulating an oocyte under a microscope. The manufacturer describes vibration as a potential interference with this micromanipulation. That is an operational concern: unwanted motion can make the instrument harder to control. It is not evidence that a specific vibration level causes a measurable change in pregnancy or live-birth outcomes.
Why an anti-vibration table may be considered
An anti-vibration table or isolation workstation is designed to reduce motion reaching the microscope and micromanipulation equipment. Whether one is needed depends on the instrument, the room and the vibration actually present. A lab should first identify the sensitive workflows and likely transmission paths, then select isolation performance and capacity that match the setup.

Match isolation to the instrument
Confirm the microscope, stages, micromanipulators, incubator components and accessories that will sit on the workstation. The relevant requirement is the equipment’s operating sensitivity and the type of disturbance to be controlled, not simply the table’s appearance or marketing label. Ask the supplier for current performance data that applies to the intended configuration.

Check load and footprint
Include the weight of every item mounted on the surface, plus fixtures and any future additions. The workstation must support that load without compromising its isolation behavior. Measure the available bench or room area, clearance for operators, cable routing and access to service panels before ordering.

Plan for cleaning and laboratory access
IVF workspaces require regular cleaning and controlled access. Select surfaces and joints that can be disinfected using the laboratory’s established procedures, and make sure the isolation system does not create inaccessible gaps where spills or dust can accumulate. Installation should preserve ergonomic working height and leave enough room for routine maintenance.
Questions to settle before installation
- Which procedures show visible movement or loss of alignment?
- Does the disturbance occur continuously, at particular times of day or when nearby equipment starts?
- Is the source airborne, transmitted through the floor or caused by direct contact with the bench?
- Will the proposed workstation fit the microscope, manipulators, accessories and operator position?
- Can the surface and surrounding components be cleaned under the lab’s approved protocol?
- What commissioning checks will confirm that the installed system works with the actual instrument load?
Facilities and laboratory staff can use this assessment to decide whether isolation, relocation, maintenance of a vibration source or a combination is the most sensible response. A table is not a substitute for correcting a failing HVAC unit, loose building component or nearby construction problem.

What the available evidence does—and does not—show
The April 1, 2025 Kinetic Systems page is manufacturer guidance and product information. It supports the practical explanation that vibration can interfere with stable microscopy and ICSI handling, and it lists performance, load capacity, size and cleanability as selection considerations. It does not provide an independent clinical effect estimate, a validated exposure threshold or a comparison of independently tested devices.

Vibration control is not a proven fertility intervention
Reducing vibration can be a reasonable quality and ergonomics measure for sensitive laboratory work. However, the available material does not establish that installing a particular table improves fertilization, embryo development, implantation or live-birth rates. No independent comparative device evidence, clinical vibration threshold or named outcome statistic was verified here.
Laboratories should therefore document vibration observations, equipment configuration and commissioning results as operational quality information, while evaluating clinical performance through their existing quality systems and appropriately designed clinical or laboratory studies. Claims about patient outcomes require separate primary evidence or current professional guidance.
The Bottom Line
Manage vibration to protect microscope stability and ICSI precision, but choose isolation equipment for the measured workflow and installation constraints—not as a proven way to increase IVF success.
