As reported by PC Gamer, Zielinski said he digitized a photo of himself lying in grass and placed it in the woods on Aspen Lake’s seventh hole as a joke for players who hit errant shots.
Where to find the dead golfer
The body is tucked into the woods on hole seven of the Aspen Lake course, about 180 yards from the tee and slightly to the right. It is easy to miss during ordinary play: the detail is off the fairway, where players are more likely to look after a wayward shot.

Who is the figure, and why is he there?
The figure is Zielinski himself, not an unidentified golfer or a character with a story in the game. PC Gamer’s Wes Fenlon reported that software engineer Tino Kalafatis, who had worked at Incredible Technologies since the 1980s, asked Zielinski about the image and relayed his response to the magazine.
Zielinski said the team wanted to give players something interesting to spot in the woods if they hit an errant shot. He described the body as a digitized photo of himself lying in the grass outside the office. The explanation makes the scene an intentional off-course Easter egg: a bit of developer humor hidden where a poor shot might take a player.

It also fit a broader habit of Zielinski’s. He said that on several early Golden Tee 3D courses he put digitized images of himself behind the first tee, where friends and family could find him by starting a game and turning around.
How the answer was established
The path to the identification included an uncertain early guess. Fenlon contacted artist Stephen Alexander, who said he vaguely remembered the image but did not know how it had been added. Alexander guessed Zielinski might have placed it because Zielinski handled much of the art placement in that version. That was a lead, not confirmation; the confirmation came later through Kalafatis’s question to Zielinski.

Why does the blood appear in some versions?
PC Gamer reported a difference between its presentations: Fenlon saw the body without visible blood in the Steam collection Golden Tee Arcade Classics, while his MAME presentation showed a pool of blood. The feature does not establish the technical reason for that difference.
Zielinski suggested there might have been two versions—one with blood and another from which the pool was removed—but said he was unsure. Fenlon also identified two Golden Tee ’99 revisions, v1.00 and v1.00S, and reported that loading v1.00S in MAME showed both the body and blood. That observation does not explain the Steam presentation, and it does not support a claim that the “S” revision removed the blood. The reporting leaves the discrepancy unresolved; it does not show that the Steam collection censored the image or that emulation caused the change.

What about the other figure near the green?
Fenlon’s feature also points to a Sasquatch-like figure near the green as a humorous aside. The reporting does not identify it or explain what it is, so it should not be treated as a confirmed creature or a fully explained second Easter egg.
