If Samsung Smart View will not connect, first check that both your Galaxy device and TV support screen mirroring, then put them on the same network and approve the connection on the TV. Restarting both devices is a sensible next step. This guide covers Samsung Galaxy Smart View; other products also use the name “SmartView,” and Samsung’s compatibility details and menus vary by model and region.
Why Smart View may not work
The cause usually falls into one of four categories: a phone or TV that does not support the required mirroring method, devices that cannot see each other on the network, a connection the TV has not approved, or video that is blocked from mirroring by content protection. Identifying which situation you have helps avoid changing settings that are unrelated to the problem.

Check whether your Galaxy device and TV are compatible
Samsung says Smart View is available on Galaxy phones and tablets running Android 4.3 or later when the receiving device supports Miracast. Samsung also notes that screen mirroring is not available on every device. Check the specifications or support information for the exact phone or tablet and TV model; a compatible Galaxy device alone does not guarantee that the receiving display supports mirroring. Samsung Korea’s guidance also recommends checking that the TV software is up to date and that Miracast is supported. It discusses 5 GHz Wi-Fi as working best in its guidance, but that is not a universal requirement for every device or network. Look at the TV screen for a connection approval prompt. If one appears, allow the Galaxy device. If no prompt is visible or the request was previously denied, check the TV’s device-connection or access settings and review whether the phone is allowed. If only one video shows a blank screen
Samsung says DRM-protected content cannot be mirrored. If Smart View connects and other content appears but a particular protected video does not, the restriction may be intentional rather than a fault with the phone or TV. Use the video provider’s supported TV app or casting option, if available. Samsung explains this limitation in its Smart View and screen-mirroring troubleshooting article.
Try a wired connection only if your phone supports video output
Samsung lists a USB-C-to-HDMI cable as an alternative when wireless connection is unavailable. This is a separate wired option, not a repair for Smart View, and it does not work with every Galaxy phone or tablet. Before buying a cable or adapter, verify that your exact device supports wired video output and that the connector and display setup are compatible. When the basic checks do not resolve it
Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance recommends restarting or rebooting as an initial step: “If Smart View is not working, restarting or rebooting your device will usually solve the issue.” If the connection still fails, use the symptoms to narrow down what to verify next:

The TV appears but does not connect: Check for a TV approval prompt and review device-access settings.

One protected video is blocked: Try the provider’s TV app or its supported casting method.
