Start with reversible checks: compare the projector’s own menu with the source image, try another picture mode, check the source and HDMI video-range settings, and reseat or test the cable. If the projector’s menu is yellow too—or the cast persists across inputs and settings—contact support for your exact model instead of guessing at a replacement part.
What a yellow image can tell you
Yellow is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Settings on the projector or source can affect color; a loose or problematic signal connection is another possibility. A fault inside the projector becomes more plausible if the built-in menu and images from multiple sources are all discolored, but only model-specific diagnosis can identify the cause.

Epson’s guidance for incorrect projected colors recommends checking picture mode, source settings, available image controls, HDMI video range, and the cable connection. It does not identify one setting or cable fault as the universal cause of a yellow cast. Epson’s image-color troubleshooting guide is for its supported projector context; menu labels and available controls vary by model.
How to narrow down the cause
- Compare the projector menu with the picture. Open the projector’s on-screen menu while the yellow image is visible. If the menu looks normal but one source’s video is yellow, investigate that source and its signal path first. If the menu is yellow as well, projector settings or an internal projector issue become more plausible. This is a practical isolation test, not a diagnosis.
- Try a different picture or color mode. Look in the projector’s picture or image settings and switch to another available mode. Names and options vary by model; use its manual if you cannot find them. LG likewise notes that picture controls and modes differ among projectors in its projector picture troubleshooting guidance, dated December 8, 2023.
- Check the source and selected input. Confirm that the source device is using the intended output and projector input. If the projector or source offers an HDMI video-range setting, check that it is set appropriately for the connected equipment. Epson includes source settings and HDMI video range among checks for incorrect colors.
- Reseat and test the HDMI cable. Disconnect and reconnect both ends securely. If the cable is long or suspect, test with a shorter, known-good compatible cable. Epson recommends checking the connection and trying a shorter cable for incorrect image colors; that makes a cable swap a useful test, not a guaranteed fix.
- Adjust image controls cautiously. If the model provides controls such as tint or saturation, change one at a time and note the original values first so you can restore them. Epson lists controls including brightness, contrast, tint, and saturation in its troubleshooting guidance, but not every projector provides the same controls.
- Escalate if the cast persists. If the projector menu is tinted or the issue remains across sources, inputs, and settings, contact the manufacturer or a qualified repair provider with the exact model information.
When to suspect projector hardware
A persistent cast across multiple inputs and settings, especially one also visible in the projector’s menu, makes an internal problem more plausible than a fault confined to one source. A secondary troubleshooting article discusses possible color-wheel faults in some DLP projectors and panel or polarizer issues in some LCD projectors. Do not replace a color wheel, panel, polarizer, or another internal component based only on the color of the image. The right diagnosis depends on the projector model and the specific symptoms; ask the manufacturer or a qualified service provider.
Should you replace the lamp?
A yellow cast by itself is not enough reason to buy a lamp. The available manufacturer guidance does not establish an aging lamp as a general cause of yellow discoloration. If the image is also dim, check the lamp status and service guidance for the exact model; LG’s cited guidance addresses dark or dim pictures, not a specific yellow-tint diagnosis.

Choose the next step by what changes the image
