A lower monthly total does not point to one cause by itself. Your Indian YouTube loop stream may have fewer views, fewer monetized playbacks, lower advertiser value per monetized playback, a different mix of viewer locations or ad formats, live-ad settings that changed, or later adjustments to estimated earnings. Compare the relevant YouTube Studio metrics for this month and the same-length previous period before changing the stream. YouTube identifies seasonality and geography as factors in CPM, but the available official information does not establish that Indian ad demand fell this month.
Start by identifying what actually fell
In YouTube Studio, open Analytics and compare this month with the same-length period immediately before it. Start with Revenue, then inspect the metrics below; a change in total revenue alone cannot tell you whether the cause was audience size, ad delivery, advertiser pricing, or another revenue source.

- Estimated revenue is the overall estimated amount. Estimated ad revenue isolates revenue from ads. If total revenue fell but ad revenue did not, look at other revenue sources rather than assuming the stream’s ads caused the change.
- Views count video views; they are not the same as views that received ads. Compare views with estimated monetized playbacks and ad impressions. Similar views alongside fewer monetized playbacks or impressions point toward a change in ad serving, not necessarily audience size.
- CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions. Playback-based CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 playbacks that had one or more ads. Neither is your take-home revenue.
- RPM is creator revenue per 1,000 views after YouTube’s revenue share and includes revenue sources beyond ads. A lower RPM does not, by itself, prove that advertisers paid less for ads. YouTube says adding the RPM metric did not change the amount of revenue creators make. YouTube’s analytics documentation explains these metrics and their differences.
Use the metric that matches the question: ad revenue for ad earnings, monetized playbacks and impressions for ad delivery, playback-based CPM for advertiser value on monetized playbacks, and RPM for creator revenue across views and eligible revenue sources.

Why ad revenue can fall even if views stay steady
Fewer views may be monetized
Not every view receives an ad. YouTube lists reasons including ads being turned off, no suitable ad being available, advertiser-friendly status, viewer geography, a viewer’s recent ad exposure, and a Premium subscription, among other factors. If views are stable but monetized playbacks or impressions declined, inspect these delivery-related metrics before changing the video or its loop schedule.

Advertiser value and the audience mix can change
Advertisers target locations and ad formats differently. A shift in your channel’s viewer geography or the types of ads available can affect CPM even if the stream itself is unchanged. YouTube also identifies seasonality as a reason CPM can vary. Check the channel’s geography report and compare the periods; do not infer a month-specific, India-wide CPM trend from a change in one channel’s earnings.
Live and replay earnings may differ
A live stream and its replay are separate parts of the diagnosis. In YouTube Studio Analytics, use the Live filter and compare the live stream’s ad revenue with revenue from its live replay. This helps distinguish a change during the broadcast from a change in replay performance.

Check live-stream ad settings
In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, verify that monetization is on and review whether mid-rolls are automatic, scheduled, or manual. Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. If you use manual mid-rolls, a slot that was not inserted will not serve a mid-roll ad.

This was a platform-reported, observational comparison averaged across 207 countries in January 2024—not an India-specific result, a guarantee, or evidence that changing your settings will restore this channel’s revenue. Consider estimate revisions and payment adjustments
Monthly estimated revenue is not necessarily final. YouTube says it may revise estimates after one week and again in the middle of the following month. Finalized prior-month earnings are added to AdSense for YouTube between the 7th and 12th of each month, according to the current YouTube Help page accessed October 3, 2026.
Check YouTube Analytics for estimate changes and the AdSense for YouTube Payments page for invalid-traffic debits. YouTube says invalid traffic, Content ID claims and disputes, and certain campaign types can prompt adjustments. An invalid-traffic investigation may delay payment for up to 90 days; this is a possible delay, not evidence that your channel is under investigation. YouTube defines invalid traffic as activity that does not come from a real user or a user with genuine interest. Do not buy traffic, ask people to watch or click ads to boost revenue, or use automated or incentivized traffic; YouTube identifies such activity as invalid-traffic examples.
Does looping affect monetization?
A loop alone does not establish whether a particular stream is eligible for monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams as well as other video formats. The policy update dated July 15, 2025 renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content can be ineligible. YouTube says monetized content should offer viewers something appealing and interesting, with materially varied substance and creative, educational, or other value.
Review both the looped stream and the channel’s wider library for originality and meaningful value, and check YouTube Studio for policy notices. A repeated video is not, by itself, enough information to determine the channel’s monetization outcome.

A practical month-to-month diagnosis
- Compare like with like. In YouTube Studio Analytics, set the current period and an equal-length previous period. Note views, estimated ad revenue, estimated monetized playbacks, ad impressions, CPM, playback-based CPM, and viewer geography.
- Find the first metric that diverged. If views fell, investigate audience changes. If views held but monetized playbacks or impressions fell, investigate ad delivery. If monetized activity held but playback-based CPM fell, advertiser value per monetized playback may have changed. If only total estimated revenue moved, check whether estimated ad revenue moved too.
- Separate live from replay. Apply the Live filter and compare live-stream and replay ad revenue rather than treating them as one result.
- Verify monetization and mid-roll configuration. In Live Control Room, confirm monetization is on and inspect whether mid-rolls are automatic, scheduled, or manual. Remember that an available slot may not serve an ad.
- Review revisions, notices, and payments. Check Analytics for revised estimates, Studio for Content ID or policy notices, and AdSense for YouTube Payments for invalid-traffic adjustments once earnings are finalized.
Because the channel’s own metrics, stream configuration, monetization status, and notices are not provided here, no single cause can be diagnosed from the monthly total alone.
