Fully charge the light or its removable battery as its manual directs, then check the exact model’s status indicators. If safe, basic checks do not fix the problem, follow the manufacturer’s troubleshooting guidance or contact its support team.
Start with the battery and the light’s indicator
Switch the light off and charge it fully using the method specified in its manual. Low charge is a documented cause of dimming or flickering on some models. TROTEC’s PWLS 06-10 manual lists low battery charge as a possible cause of a dim or flickering light and recommends recharging. DEWALT’s DCL050 documentation says the light blinks twice and dims as its battery nears full discharge. Those behaviors apply to those models, not every cordless work light.

After charging, switch the light on and observe its own indicators. Record the model number and the indicator’s color, location, and flash pattern; those details can help you find the correct explanation in the manual or give the manufacturer support team useful information.

There is no universal flicker or flash code. For example, the Bosch WorkLight 18V-2100 manual distinguishes among several conditions: a flashing outer LED indicates approximately 0–15% state of charge; a flashing middle LED indicates a fault in the cordless work light; and all LEDs flashing indicates that the battery or light is outside its operating temperature range. Bosch directs owners with the fault indication to customer services. Check your own manual rather than applying Bosch’s codes to another product.

Check the battery seating, if it is removable
If your light uses a removable battery pack, switch the light off and remove and reinstall the pack only as the manufacturer directs. A Milwaukee L4 SL550 manual copy associates one red-and-green flashing condition with checking that the battery is fully seated. That clue is specific to that model; another light may use a different indicator or have an integrated battery.
Let an overheated light cool
If the housing is hot or the indicator reports a temperature condition, stop using the light and let it cool safely as its manual instructs. Milwaukee L4 SL550 manual material associates dimming plus a solid red ring with possible overheating and says the ring remains solid until the tool cools. Bosch’s WorkLight 18V-2100 manual separately identifies an out-of-range temperature condition. Do not keep operating a light that reports overheating.

If the light will not charge
Check only the charging connections and components that your model’s manual permits you to check. For the TROTEC PWLS 06-10, the manual recommends trying another cable and power adapter and ensuring the Micro-USB port is clean and dry. Those instructions are not a general fix for lights with a different charging design. Use the cable, adapter, and charging method specified for your own model.
When to replace a battery or seek service
Replace a battery only after checking compatibility
If charging and the manual-approved checks do not help, a replacement battery may be worth considering only if the light uses a replaceable pack and the manufacturer identifies the pack as compatible with the exact light. Match the specified part number and battery platform; voltage or a connector that looks similar is not enough to establish compatibility. The manuals identify low charge as a possible cause, but do not establish that batteries are interchangeable across brands or models.

Refer persistent faults to the manufacturer
If the light continues to dim or flicker after charging and basic checks, or its indicator reports a fault, use the troubleshooting and service route for the exact model. TROTEC recommends contacting customer support if its listed checks do not resolve the issue, and Bosch directs owners with its fault indication to customer services. Do not open a sealed light or attempt an internal electrical repair based on a generic troubleshooting guide.
