Most BISSELL Little Green leaks or spray failures come down to a tank that is overfilled, incorrectly fitted, or not sealed—or to a clogged or unprimed spray path. First identify whether you have a standard Little Green, Little Green Mini, or Little Green Cordless: the priming steps differ. Then work through the checks for your model below.
Before troubleshooting, identify your Little Green model
Find the model number on the machine’s rating label and match it to the applicable group. The standard instructions cover models 1400, 1425, 50Y6, 4098E, 4098N, and 1400P; Mini instructions cover 4075 and 4064 Series; Cordless instructions cover 3682, 3734, 3732, 3734N, and 3682B. If your model is not listed, use its own manual or BISSELL support rather than assuming these steps or parts apply.

If your Little Green is leaking
Start by noting where water appears: around a tank, at the tool or hose, or beneath the machine. Turn the machine off before removing tanks or inspecting connections. A clean-water tank, dirty-water tank, seal, hose, or tool can each be involved, so do not order a replacement until you have identified the model and the damaged part.

Standard Little Green
- Check the dirty-water tank. If the contents are above the FULL line, empty it. Clean beneath the tank and inspect the rubber gaskets.
- Inspect both tanks for cracks or other damage. Tighten the clean-water tank cap, making sure it is not cross-threaded. Press the cap valve to check that water flows.
- Reinstall both tanks securely. Inspect the hose and the spray-tip O-rings for damage, and make sure the tool clicks fully into place.
- After use, leave the machine on and hold the hose up for five seconds so water remaining in the hose can flow into the dirty-water tank.
If a tank, hose, spray tip, O-ring, or tool is damaged or continues to leak, consult BISSELL’s standard Little Green leaking guidance for replacement or support options.

Little Green Mini
- Empty the dirty-water tank if it is overfilled. Clean beneath it and inspect the gaskets.
- Check both tanks for cracks or leaks. Check the clean-tank valve, then reinstall the tanks fully and close the dirty-tank latch.
- Inspect the hose, spray-tip O-rings, and tool connection for damage or a poor fit.
Use clean-tank water no hotter than 140°F (60°C); BISSELL warns that hotter water can deform the Mini tank and affect performance. If a component is damaged or still leaks, see BISSELL’s Mini leaking guidance.
Little Green Cordless
- Empty the dirty-water tank when it reaches MAX. Clean beneath it, then inspect both tanks for cracks or leaks.
- Check that the clean-tank cap is tight and not cross-threaded. Make sure the dirty-tank lid is fully inserted with no gap and that the float moves freely.
- Extend the hose fully and run the machine without holding the trigger to help locate the leak. Check the hose connection, suction hose, handle, and underside of the machine.

If your Little Green is not spraying
A clean-water tank that is not seated or whose valve is not flowing can interrupt spray. So can a blocked hose-end spray tip or an unprimed machine. On models that plug in, switch off and unplug before removing the tank or cleaning the tip; follow the Cordless instructions for its Wash mode instead.

Standard Little Green: allow up to 30 seconds to prime
- Turn the machine off and unplug it. Remove the clean-water tank and clean beneath it.
- Check that the cap is tight and not cross-threaded, and press the cap valve to check water flow. Reinstall the tank firmly.
- Remove the tool and clean the spray tip at the end of the hose.
- Plug in and turn on the machine, hold the trigger, and allow up to 30 seconds for priming before spray starts.

Little Green Mini: allow up to 30 seconds to prime
- Clean beneath the clean-water tank. Check its cap and valve, then reinstall the tank until it clicks.
- Remove and clean the hose-end spray tip.
- Turn on the machine, hold the trigger, and allow up to 30 seconds for priming.
BISSELL says the Mini is compatible with its portable carpet-cleaner formulas and recommends genuine formula for optimal performance. Formula will not fix a blocked tip or a damaged part. See BISSELL’s Mini spray guidance.
Little Green Cordless: use Wash mode and hold the trigger for 20 seconds
- Clean beneath the clean-water tank. Tighten its cap without cross-threading it, and check that water lightly flows from the tank valve.
- Seat the tank firmly. Use the BISSELL formula recommended on the Cordless troubleshooting page.
- Set the machine to Wash mode and hold the trigger for 20 seconds to prime.
- If it still does not spray, check the hose port and hose, including that the hose is fully inserted.

Replace a component only after inspection points to damage or persistent leakage. Match any replacement tank or tool to the machine’s model number; the model families listed here do not establish universal compatibility.
