First check which app you’re using: Apple’s built-in Calendar or Google Calendar for iPhone. They have different sync settings. In Apple Calendar, confirm your Google account is added and its Calendars option is on; then check whether the missing event was actually saved to a Google calendar. If you use Google’s app, troubleshoot its connection, visibility and event destination separately.
Start by identifying the calendar app
Apple Calendar and Google Calendar are separate apps, even when both show Google calendars. Google provides distinct instructions for syncing with Apple Calendar and fixing sync problems in its own app; a setting in one app may not fix the other.

| Apple Calendar | iPhone Settings > Apps > Calendar > Calendar Accounts | Google calendars sync through the Google account added to iPhone settings. Google’s setup guide is at Google Calendar Help. |
| Google Calendar for iPhone | In the Google Calendar app, check calendar visibility and the event’s calendar destination | Use Google’s app-specific troubleshooting steps at Google Calendar Help. |
Fix sync in Apple Calendar
1. Confirm the Google account and Calendar access
On current iOS versions, open Settings > Apps > Calendar > Calendar Accounts. If your Google account is listed, tap it and make sure Calendars is turned on. If it is missing, choose Add Account > Google and sign in. Some iOS versions may use different labels; Google’s guide describes the path as Settings > Calendar > Accounts > Add account > Google. You can switch off other account services if you only want calendar syncing. See Google’s Apple Calendar setup instructions and Apple’s Calendar settings guide.
2. Make sure the calendar is displayed
Open Apple Calendar and check its calendar list to confirm the relevant Google calendar is selected. A connected account does not necessarily mean every calendar is currently visible in the app.

3. Check where the event was saved
Open a missing event and inspect its Calendar field. It may have been saved to iCloud or an iPhone-only calendar rather than to the Google calendar you expect. An event stored outside the Google account will not automatically appear as a Google Calendar event simply because that account is also connected.
4. Set the destination for new events
Apple says new events are added to the chosen default calendar. In Settings > Apps > Calendar > Default Calendar, select the Google calendar if you want new events created in Apple Calendar to go there. For an event that already exists on another calendar, edit its Calendar field and move it to the Google calendar. Apple explains default-calendar behavior in its Calendar settings guide.

5. Check Fetch New Data if updates are delayed
If the account supports a Fetch schedule rather than Push, review Settings > Apps > Calendar > Calendar Accounts > Fetch New Data (the exact route or labels can vary by iOS version). Apple says Automatically downloads new data when iPhone is charging and connected to Wi‑Fi; a timed fetch schedule is another option. This setting applies to accounts that do not support Push, so it is not a universal fix for every Google account. See Apple’s explanation of Calendar settings.

Fix sync in the Google Calendar app
These checks are for Google Calendar’s own iPhone app, not Apple Calendar. Work through them in order, starting with the least disruptive:

- Update the app. Check for an available Google Calendar update and install it.
- Confirm the calendar is visible. In the app’s menu, make sure the calendar containing the event is selected for display.
- Verify the event’s calendar. Open the event and check that it belongs to a calendar associated with the Google Account you’re viewing. An event saved to another account or a local calendar may not appear in Google Calendar or at calendar.google.com.
- Quit and reopen the app. If the earlier checks do not resolve the issue, close Google Calendar and open it again.
- Use account removal or reinstalling only as later steps. Google lists removing and re-adding the account or reinstalling the app among further troubleshooting options. Try the basic checks first. Follow Google’s full app troubleshooting guide for its current sequence.
Why older events may be missing from Google’s app
Google’s troubleshooting instructions say the Google Calendar iOS app syncs past events up to one year; older events can be viewed at calendar.google.com. This limit is specific to the Google Calendar app’s stated historical sync behavior. It should not be treated as a general one-year limit for Google calendars connected to Apple Calendar.

Google says its official Calendar app is the easiest sync option and also supports using the built-in Apple Calendar. These are two ways to access Google calendars, not a reliability ranking: Google’s published guidance provides setup and troubleshooting steps, not comparative reliability testing.
