For a long-haul flight, I would still choose Beats Studio Pro if I expect to watch the seat-back entertainment system: Studio Pro has a 3.5 mm wired input, while Beats 360 does not. That direct connection avoids relying on onboard Bluetooth or packing a separate transmitter. Beats 360 has meaningful advantages for other uses, but a newer feature set does not replace the wired option when the plane’s headphone jack is the simplest way to listen.
Why Studio Pro has the flight-specific advantage
It can connect directly to a seat-back headphone jack
Beats Studio Pro has a 3.5 mm analog input, so it can connect to an aircraft entertainment system equipped with a compatible headphone jack. Beats 360 has no wired audio connection. The distinction matters when you want to use the seat-back screen without depending on Bluetooth pairing or carrying another device. A jack on the headphones is not a guarantee that a particular seat has a working jack, however; availability varies by aircraft and seat.

Wired playback can outlast Studio Pro’s battery charge
T3’s September 22, 2026 review reports that Studio Pro can play basic audio through its wired connection even when its battery is depleted. That is separate from noise cancellation: the reviewer says ANC still depends on the headphones’ electronics, so do not count on noise cancellation continuing indefinitely without charge. Beats 360 lacks the wired fallback, so its wireless audio path requires battery power.

What Beats 360 brings that Studio Pro does not
Features for workouts and everyday use
Beats’ official comparison lists IPX4 sweat and water resistance for Beats 360, along with interchangeable cushion options. Those features make the newer model more adaptable to sweaty or varied everyday use. IPX4 is a rating for resistance to splashes, not a claim that the headphones are waterproof or suitable for immersion.
Battery claims need their ANC conditions
Beats lists up to 32 hours of playback for Beats 360 with ANC on, compared with up to 24 hours for Studio Pro with ANC on. Apple lists up to 40 hours for Studio Pro with ANC off. These are manufacturer-stated maximums under different conditions, not independent flight-duration tests; the ANC-off figure should not be treated as directly comparable to the ANC-on figures.

Using Beats 360 with in-flight entertainment
A Bluetooth audio transmitter plugged into the aircraft’s headphone jack can provide a wireless route for headphones without a wired input. T3 identifies this as a workaround, but it adds a device to carry and charge. Bluetooth pairing is not universal across aircraft and airlines, and the source set does not establish compatibility for any particular carrier, plane, seat, or transmitter. If you choose this route, check the transmitter’s compatibility and the airline’s onboard setup before the trip.

Studio Pro remains my practical choice when seat-back entertainment is part of the plan, because its wired input offers a straightforward connection and a reported basic-playback fallback if the battery runs out. Beats 360 is the more compelling fit when interchangeable cushions, IPX4 resistance, or its longer manufacturer-listed ANC-on runtime matter more than a direct aircraft connection. T3’s reviewer likewise favors Studio Pro for this specific flight use, concluding: “But until in-flight Bluetooth becomes genuinely universal, the supposedly old-fashioned Studio Pro will keep one very important place in my bag.” That is the reviewer’s opinion, not a claim about universal airline equipment.
