I built AI Prompt Vault because reusable prompts were scattered across desktop Markdown files, phone notes, and email drafts. When I needed a prompt that had worked a week earlier, finding it took longer than it should. I wanted an Android library where I could search prompts and copy one quickly, without depending on an online account or service.
Why managing prompts became a problem
Tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini had become part of my coding and documentation workflow. The prompts I wanted to reuse, however, lived in different places. That fragmentation made retrieval—not writing the prompt—the frustrating part. AI Prompt Vault grew out of a practical goal: keep reusable prompts in one searchable place on my Android device.

What AI Prompt Vault does
The app is a local Android library for storing reusable prompts. It supports searching, filtering by category, and copying a prompt to the clipboard with one tap. The idea is deliberately focused: save a prompt once, then make it easier to find and reuse when needed.
Why I chose offline-first storage
I considered Firebase authentication and cross-device synchronization, but removed the planned cloud-sync feature. I did not want using a prompt library to require another account, and I wanted to prioritize privacy and speed. Those are my design reasons, not findings from a user study or proof that local storage is inherently more secure.

Keeping prompts on one device also changes what the owner must consider. Local storage avoids dependence on a sync service, but it does not by itself make prompts available on other devices or provide a backup and recovery path. The app’s account of its design does not establish a cross-device backup solution, so preserving or moving the library remains an open consideration.
How the app is built
I built the app with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, using Room for local data storage and Hilt for dependency injection. The architecture follows an MVI approach: a ViewModel exposes immutable UI state, while Room’s Flow integration allows the interface to react to database changes.

- PERFORMANCE: Lightning-fast 5G connectivity paired with a powerful processor and RAM Boost for smooth multitasking.
- BATTERY LIFE: Long-lasting 5000mAh battery with TurboPower charging technology delivers hours of power in minutes.
Searching without a backend
Prompt titles alone were not enough to make a library useful, so I integrated SQLite FTS4 through Room to search titles and prompt bodies. This keeps the search feature within the local data architecture rather than requiring a server. The implementation description does not include an independent performance benchmark.

Keeping interface state predictable
Search text, category selection, and the prompt list all affect what appears on screen. I used a single immutable state flow so those parts of the interface could be handled together and remain predictable as the underlying database changes.

Copying prompts on Android
The main action is copying a prompt through Android’s ClipboardManager. I also had to account for platform behavior around clipboard feedback, including the overlay introduced in Android 13. Copying is a small feature, but it sits at the center of the app’s intended workflow.
What local-first design gives up
Choosing local storage simplified the product: there is no planned Firebase sign-in or sync service to configure. The corresponding tradeoff is that the design does not establish automatic access across devices or a cloud recovery mechanism. Anyone choosing a local-only library should think about how they will preserve important data if a device is lost or replaced; the app description does not specify a backup feature.

- PRIVACY DISPLAY: Automatically hide your screen from those beside you. The built-in privacy display can be preset¹ to turn on when receiving notifications, typing passwords, or using specific apps
- TYPE IT IN. TRANSFORM IT FAST: Enhance any shot in seconds on your smartphone by using Photo Assist² with Galaxy AI.³ Add objects, restore details, or apply new styles by simply typing or tapping
- NIGHTS, CAPTURED CLEARLY: From gigs to city lights, record and capture moments after dark with clarity using Nightography so your photos and videos stay crisp and clear on your Samsung Galaxy
- MAKE IT. EDIT IT. SHARE IT: Turn everyday moments into something personal with creative tools built right into your mobile phone, whether it’s a special contact photo, custom wallpaper, an invitation or more⁴
- HELP THAT KEEPS UP: Stay in the moment while Now Nudge with Galaxy AI helps you respond faster and stay organized with smart suggestions⁵ that appear exactly when you need them on your phone
I made the choice based on my own priorities—fewer account demands, privacy, and speed—not on quantified evidence that every user prefers those tradeoffs. Local storage is a design decision with practical consequences, not a universal answer.
What still needs work
Prompts often contain variable inputs, such as [Insert code here]. I identified handling these placeholders as an area still being refined. The current description does not establish a completed template or variable-substitution feature, so prompts with placeholders may still need manual editing before use.

The result I was aiming for
AI Prompt Vault is my attempt to solve a specific workflow annoyance: reusable prompts scattered across apps and files were too easy to lose track of. A local Android library with search, categories, and clipboard copying addresses retrieval without adding a cloud account to the workflow. It also leaves backup and cross-device access as tradeoffs to consider, rather than capabilities I can claim the app provides.
