Possibly—if you mean Project Reclaimer, a community-made PC launcher that reportedly expands Halo 3 with matches for up to 128 players, extensive mod support, and other features. That is an appealing case for the claim, but it is not an objective verdict: the feature report documents what the project aims to offer, not a tested comparison proving it is the best Halo multiplayer since Bungie. Halo Infinite’s official Forge ecosystem is a separate, established route for community-made maps and modes.
What is Project Reclaimer?
Project Reclaimer is the likely subject behind the headline, though the title does not name it. Windows Central reported on October 8, 2026, that it is a PC-specific launcher for Halo 3 that runs from an existing Halo: The Master Chief Collection installation. The reported feature set is a community expansion of Halo 3 multiplayer—not a new official Halo game or an update to Halo Infinite. Windows Central’s report is the source for the capabilities described below; they have not been independently tested here.

What does Project Reclaimer reportedly add to Halo 3?
Larger matches and campaign co-op
Windows Central reports that matches can support up to 128 players, including 64-versus-64, and that campaign co-op can support up to 16 players. These are reported project capabilities, not independently verified player-count tests.

Servers, playlists, and local play
The report also describes dedicated servers that can run on Windows or Linux, a server browser, and playlists with map and mode voting. Four-player split-screen is reportedly supported, with those players able to join community servers online.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Mods and customization
Reported features include full mod support, player-customized Spartans or Elites, a restored original menu, and automatic mod downloads when joining a server. Together, these features suggest a community-server experience with more room for custom content than a standard match, but their availability and operation should be confirmed against the project’s current release information.
How do you play Halo 3 with 128 players?
According to Windows Central, you need a PC and an existing Halo: The Master Chief Collection installation containing Halo 3 to use Project Reclaimer. The report describes the launcher as PC-only and does not establish an Xbox version. It also does not provide enough detail to treat the reported player counts or feature list as a guarantee for every server or release.

Project Reclaimer and Forge both involve community content, but they build on different games and work in different ways. Project Reclaimer is an unofficial PC launcher for Halo 3, as described by Windows Central. Forge is Halo Infinite’s in-game creation ecosystem, and Halo Support says Forge is included free in Halo Infinite multiplayer. Forge maps can be played in Custom Games, while selected creator-made maps have also appeared in matchmaking playlists.

| Option | Underlying game and access | Community content and play |
|---|---|---|
| Project Reclaimer | Halo 3 through an existing Halo: The Master Chief Collection PC installation; Windows Central describes it as PC-only. | Reported support for mods, community servers, server browsing, and matches of up to 128 players. |
| Halo Infinite Forge | Halo Infinite multiplayer; Halo Support says Forge is included free. | Creator-made maps and modes can be used in Custom Games, and selected Forge maps have entered matchmaking. |
Forge also includes Community File Share discovery, with sections for recommended files and popular maps, modes, and prefabs, according to Halo Support’s Forge overview. That official creator ecosystem is distinct from installing a community launcher and joining a server.
Can you play Halo Infinite community Forge maps in matchmaking?
Yes, selected Forge maps have been placed in matchmaking, though inclusion is playlist- and date-dependent. Halo Support said several Forge maps were available in matchmaking as of April 22, 2025. The Fall Update 2025 notes specifically recorded Ecotone, Lattice, and Serenity entering named playlists, with Serenity based on Halo 2’s Sanctuary. Those release notes document what was added at that time, not a promise that the maps remain in current rotation. See the Fall Update 2025 patch notes for the stated playlist details.

What shows the range of Halo community creations?
Halo Waypoint’s February 3, 2026 feature highlights several examples of what creators have made in Forge: Emeraldine, a remake based on an unused Grotto multiplayer map; Skisma’s Halo Royale, a battle-royale-style project developed over multiple years; and Halo Heroes, a class-based team mode with tailored loadouts and objectives. These examples show different approaches to maps and modes, not a quality ranking. Halo Waypoint’s community feature provides the examples.
There are community efforts beyond Forge as well. The Advanced Multiplayer Collective’s Halo Advanced Multiplayer Project works in ElDewrito to recreate multiplayer modes from other Halo games while adding content. Its GitHub project page lists Reach Advanced MP and ODST Advanced MP as complete apart from minor updates and bug fixes; other listed projects are in progress or not in production. The page does not establish that this project is the one meant by the headline.

Is “the best since Bungie” a fair verdict?
It is a defensible opinion, especially for players drawn to large lobbies, custom servers, and mods, but the available reporting does not prove it. “Best” depends on what matters to a player: scale, matchmaking, balance, nostalgia, ease of access, or the variety of custom experiences. The sources establish that Halo communities have created multiple distinct ways to play; they do not provide a standardized comparison or evidence of a single winner.
Project Reclaimer is the strongest likely fit for someone asking about an ambitious Halo 3 multiplayer revival on PC. Halo Infinite Forge is the more direct fit for someone who wants an official in-game creation route, including selected creator maps in matchmaking. They answer different needs, so the headline’s superlative is best read as enthusiasm rather than a settled ranking.
