Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteOBS does not manage the order of a YouTube podcast playlist. First find out where the skip happens: if viewers are watching a YouTube playlist, check its contents and episode order in YouTube Studio; if OBS is playing local files, inspect that playback source and its queue. The available documentation does not establish a specific OBS setting that fixes local playlist skips.
First identify which player is skipping
“YouTube Live playlist” can mean different things: a YouTube podcast playlist that viewers watch, a live broadcast sent from OBS, or a playlist of local files playing in an OBS scene. The fix depends on which component is selecting the next episode.

| Where the skip occurs | What to check first | What the documentation establishes |
|---|---|---|
| In the YouTube player, while watching a podcast playlist | Playlist membership and episode order in YouTube Studio | YouTube treats a podcast show as a playlist of videos and lets creators reorder its episodes. |
| In an OBS scene playing local media | The source that plays the files, its queue, and its playback configuration | The reviewed sources do not identify a particular local-source control or setting as the cause. |
| In the live stream as a connection interruption or dropped frames | OBS connection and dropped-frame indicators | OBS describes dropped frames as a connection or bitrate symptom; that does not establish why an entire episode would be skipped. |
If YouTube is playing the podcast playlist
Check the playlist’s videos and order
- Open the podcast in YouTube Studio and review the playlist’s contents. Confirm the expected full-length episodes are included. YouTube says podcast playlists should contain full episodes and notes that some playlists may not qualify for podcast features. See Create a podcast in YouTube Studio.
- Check which episode appears next in the playlist. YouTube recommends newest-to-oldest order for episodic shows and oldest-to-newest for serial shows. If the order does not match your format, reorder the episodes in YouTube Studio. See YouTube’s podcast setup and ordering guidance.
- Compare the order in Studio with what viewers see in the YouTube player. A surprising next episode can be a playlist-order issue, not a problem with OBS sending the live broadcast.
Review podcast classification only if it is unexpected
YouTube may automatically classify a playlist as a podcast and documents a control for removing podcast features if the classification is incorrect or unwanted. That classification is a separate setting: the available documentation does not say it makes OBS skip episodes. For details, consult YouTube’s podcast guidance.
If OBS is playing local podcast files
Determine which OBS source or other player is actually selecting and playing the files, then inspect its queue and playback configuration. The sources reviewed here do not document the exact local-source controls involved, so there is no evidence-based basis for naming a particular checkbox or setting as the fix.

Compare the local preview with the viewer-facing stream. If the skip appears only in the stream, note where the preview and output diverge; if it appears in both, the local playback path is the more relevant place to investigate. This comparison narrows the problem but does not, by itself, identify its cause.
If the live stream is dropping frames
Check OBS’s connection and dropped-frame indicators if the symptom is interruption or unstable delivery. OBS explains that dropped frames can point to an unstable connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain. That is a stream-delivery check—not proof that connection trouble causes a whole podcast episode to be skipped. See OBS’s guidance on dropped frames and network issues.

OBS sends a broadcast to YouTube; YouTube Studio manages podcast playlists and their episode order. The reviewed OBS materials do not establish OBS as the controller of YouTube podcast playlist sequencing. The OBS contributor guide to YouTube streaming dates from 2015, so treat interface-specific details in it as older context rather than definitive current instructions: OBS’s YouTube streaming guide.

- Where playback happens: the YouTube player, an OBS local-media source, or another player.
- The playlist’s video list and order as shown in YouTube Studio.
- If OBS plays local files, the source type and how its queue is configured.
- Whether the skip appears in the local preview, the viewer-facing stream, or both.
- Whether the symptom is a different episode playing next, a file being skipped, or a stream interruption with dropped frames.
Without those details, the title alone is not enough to diagnose a specific cause.
