Firefox full-page screenshots can have blank sections when the page has not loaded that content yet, when the content scrolls inside an embedded panel instead of the main page, or—less commonly—when an unusually tall page encounters a rendering problem. A full-page capture does not necessarily scroll every part of a page or make an app load content on demand. Diagnose which case applies before changing capture settings.
First identify what is missing
Compare the blank area with the live page. Does the material appear after you scroll manually? Does it sit inside a panel with its own scrollbar? Is the gap mainly far down an exceptionally tall document? These clues point to different causes; no single fix applies to every page.

| What you see | What to investigate | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Feed cards or later entries are absent, especially on an app-like or social page | The site may render or retain content only as you scroll. Mozilla describes Reddit using a virtual list where the full-page capture includes only content already loaded. This is an example, not proof about every site. Mozilla Bugzilla 1810767 | Scroll down manually, pause for content to appear, then capture again. |
| The capture contains only the viewport although an area within the page can scroll | A panel, viewer, or embedded region may own the scrollbar; the outer document may not scroll. A 2026 Mozilla Connect report describes this issue for Firefox 150.0 on Linux Mint. Mozilla Connect discussion | Scroll the inner region and capture that content separately if needed. |
| Images, elements, or styling fail mainly far down a very tall page | A historical report described a failure beginning around 16,383 pixels. That report was closed as a duplicate, and its status history marked Firefox 111 fixed; it is not evidence of a current universal limit. Mozilla Bugzilla 1810934 | Try smaller sections. Treat page height as one possibility, not an assumed cause. |
| The same site is incomplete while other pages capture normally | Site-specific loading behavior or nested scrolling is plausible based on the cases above. | Check where the scrollbar is and whether manual scrolling makes the missing content appear. |
Check whether the page has loaded the missing content
Full-page capture generally captures what the page has rendered; it does not guarantee that an infinite feed or virtual list will be scrolled to its end. Mozilla’s Bugzilla discussion explains that a page may create content as the reader scrolls, and that an endless feed may have no definite end to reach. Read the issue discussion.
- Scroll through the page manually, including the area around the blank section.
- Pause where images or text should appear and wait for them to populate.
- Retry the full-page capture and compare it with the page as rendered after scrolling.
This is a diagnostic step, not a guaranteed remedy: some sites discard off-screen content or manage it in ways a full-page capture cannot reproduce.

Check which part of the page actually scrolls
Try scrolling over the suspected feed, card, document viewer, or app panel. If its contents move while the overall page stays still, the inner region—not the top-level document—owns the scroll. Capturing the outer page may therefore omit the rest of that region.
Mozilla employee Sam Foster described the challenge in a Mozilla Connect discussion: a capture tool would have to decide which region to scroll and how to assemble it into one image, including what to do with the surrounding layout. Mozilla Connect discussion. If the content is inside an iframe or embedded viewer, inspect and capture that region as a separate target when your workflow permits.

Compare visible and full-page captures
Mozilla Support documents the Firefox screenshot choices “Save visible” and “Save full page.” Capture the visible area around the missing content and compare it with the same area in the full-page image. You can download the image or copy it to the clipboard. Firefox screenshot instructions.
Try the Developer Tools screenshot helper
Firefox Source Docs describe the Web Console :screenshot helper, including --fullpage, --delay, and --selector. The delay may allow a changing page state to settle; a selector can target a particular element. These options do not themselves guarantee that virtualized content will load or that Firefox will scroll a nested region. Firefox Source Docs: Taking screenshots.

For the Developer Tools button, open Developer Tools settings and enable “Take a screenshot of the entire page.” Mozilla’s Source Docs cover both that button and the helper.
When the page is exceptionally tall
Mozilla’s historical issue discussions include two approximate figures, neither of which should be treated as a current Firefox specification: a contributor described a rough full-page capture length of about 30,000 pixels in Bugzilla 1810767, while a reporter in Bugzilla 1810934 saw a failure around 16,383 pixels. The reports concern particular cases and different discussions; they do not establish a general threshold for current releases.

If the missing portion is far down a very tall document, capture smaller sections and assemble them if appropriate. This is a practical alternative, not a Mozilla-certified fix. First check for on-demand content and inner scroll regions, which can produce similar symptoms at ordinary page heights.

- Record the baseline: note your Firefox version, operating system, page URL, and whether the live page itself scrolls.
- Compare capture modes: use “Save visible” and “Save full page,” then identify whether the blank region is present in the visible capture too.
- Scroll manually: move through the page and wait for missing images or text to load, then retry.
- Test inner scroll areas: scroll over the relevant panel or viewer. If only it moves, capture that region separately where possible.
- Try a targeted capture: use the Web Console helper’s delay or selector option, while recognizing these settings do not force all site content to load.
- Break up very tall captures: if the issue appears only far down a long page, try smaller sections rather than assuming a particular pixel cutoff.
- Report a reproducible case: include the Firefox version, operating system, affected URL, whether manual scrolling reveals the content, and which region owns the scrollbar. Mozilla’s issue discussion asks for example URLs and reproduction details to distinguish causes.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request can return a screenshot or PDF; lazy images can be loaded for full-page captures. Cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture, and each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed; response headers report the page verdict and billing status.
