If you run a YouTube Live study stream and it stops when a playlist ends, the source may have stopped sending video. YouTube says an encoder-based stream ends when the encoder stops sending content. To keep a broadcast going, make sure its source loops or another source takes over. If you mean a playlist you are watching, that is a different playback problem: first check whether the live stream itself is still active.
First, identify which playlist has ended
“Playlist” can mean either the media feeding your broadcast or a viewer’s list of videos. The fix depends on which one you mean.

Without the app, device, encoder, hosting service, and your role in the stream, there is no reliable basis for exact menu-by-menu viewer instructions.
If you operate the YouTube Live stream
Check that the source keeps sending video
YouTube’s encoder guidance says to enter the live server URL and stream key in the encoder and to end a stream by stopping content from the encoder. That means a playlist reaching its final item can end the broadcast if the source stops and nothing else continues the feed. Check the source’s repeat or loop setting, then confirm the encoder or hosting dashboard continues to show an outgoing feed after the file reaches its end. YouTube’s encoder instructions

Use Live Control Room to isolate the failure
- Check the preview and stream status in Live Control Room. A missing preview or inactive feed points toward a source or encoder problem.
- Check whether the local recording or archive file is present and still growing, if your setup records locally.
- Open the channel’s watch page and test it on mobile as well as your usual device. If the feed is active there but one player stops, investigate that playback path rather than changing the broadcast source.
- Monitor audio and video for a freeze, silence, or quality warning. YouTube’s live-streaming tips describe these checks.
Do not treat 12 hours as an automatic cutoff
YouTube’s help pages say streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, and that DVR rewind on long streams can be limited or unavailable. Those notes concern archiving and rewind; they do not establish that YouTube automatically stops a live broadcast at 12 hours. Archive live streams · DVR on live streams
If you are watching someone else’s stream
Check the live watch page first. If it says the broadcast has ended, the source stream is no longer live; a viewer-side playlist setting cannot keep that broadcast running. If the watch page still shows a live stream but playback stopped after a playlist item, test another playback route, such as opening the watch page directly. The exact autoplay controls vary by app and device, and the available evidence does not establish a universal setting.
