Because YouTube has separate eligibility requirements for mobile live streaming. Being able to go live from a computer does not guarantee that the YouTube app will show the mobile Go Live option. Check your channel’s subscriber count, verification and live-streaming status, any recent restrictions, the first-stream activation delay, and your phone’s operating system.
Check the mobile requirements in order

Confirm your channel has at least 50 subscribers
YouTube’s mobile live-streaming guidance requires at least 50 subscribers. Computer streaming uses a separate route, so access from a desktop does not establish that your channel meets this mobile requirement.

Verify the channel and enable live streaming
YouTube lists channel verification and enabled live streaming among the prerequisites for going live in the mobile app. Check the channel’s status and live-streaming settings in YouTube Studio.

Look for a restriction in the past 90 days
Mobile streaming requires that the channel have no live-streaming restrictions within the previous 90 days. YouTube lists policy strikes or takedowns, matches to another copyrighted live broadcast, and other policy-based circumstances as possible reasons for restrictions. Review YouTube Studio and account notifications for the status that applies to your channel; do not assume a restriction without an account-specific notice.

Wait if you just enabled live streaming
YouTube says, “You may need to wait 24 hours before you can start your first live stream.” If you only recently enabled live streaming, allow that activation period to pass before treating the missing option as a device problem.

Check your phone’s operating system
YouTube’s cited mobile guidance specifies Android 8.0 or later, or iOS 8 or later. Check the operating system version and whether the YouTube app can be updated. An older phone could be relevant, but the version alone does not prove it is the cause; first rule out the channel requirements above.

Tell a missing Go Live option apart from a failed stream
If the app does not offer Create or Go Live, focus first on mobile eligibility and activation. If Go Live is available but the broadcast fails, shows an error, or performs poorly, that is a different problem. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance covers issues such as encoder errors, stream keys, encoder health, reported viewing errors, and outbound internet connectivity. Those checks may help with a failed broadcast; they do not establish why the mobile option is missing.

A channel with 50 to fewer than 1,000 subscribers may still be eligible to stream from mobile. YouTube says these channels may have limits on mobile-stream audiences, and their archives are set to private by default. Those limits are distinct from the 50-subscriber threshold for mobile access.

What to gather if the option is still missing
The cause for a particular channel cannot be identified without its account and device details. Before contacting YouTube support or troubleshooting further, note:
- The channel’s subscriber count and whether it is verified.
- Whether mobile live streaming was recently enabled, and when.
- Your phone model, operating system version, and YouTube app version.
- What you see in the app: no Create or Live option, a disabled button, an error message, or a stream that starts but fails.
- Any restriction notice in YouTube Studio or from YouTube.
