Blizzard says convenience choices in WoW: Forever can affect how players meet, gather, and make memories—but the official material available does not confirm that Blizzard specifically ruled out Summoning Stones, or that it used the phrases “shrink the world” or “easily erodes.” The supported explanation is broader: the game’s design emphasizes travel, exploration, and social encounters, so faster access to group content has to be weighed against those goals.
What Blizzard has said about convenience
In its official announcement, Blizzard says four pillars guide WoW: Forever: “approachable and familiar,” “the world as the main character,” “the journey before the destination,” and “protecting and nurturing the social experiences that make Azeroth feel alive.” It says new additions are measured against the spirit of the original game.

Blizzard directly links convenience decisions to social play: “We’re also being thoughtful about convenience, because every quality-of-life choice can shape the way players meet, gather, and make memories together.” That supports the idea that a shortcut is not purely a time-saving feature; it can also change how players encounter one another. It does not, by itself, establish a specific Summoning Stones policy.
Why travel and chance encounters matter in WoW: Forever
Blizzard describes the game as an expansion of original Azeroth, with new and reimagined regions and additional quests across the level 1–60 journey. Its announcement says leveling remains as important as endgame, effort continues to matter, and rewards come through playing, exploring, making friends, and taking on challenges. Blizzard also says the experience will have no flying mounts or level scaling, and will emphasize preparation, communication, and cooperation.

In a separate official deep-dive, Blizzard highlights “serendipitous interactions”: chance meetings where players competing for the same resource or enemy might stop and engage with one another. It also describes a campfire system where players can pause together and contribute useful crafted objects. Those examples make the intended role of shared space clearer: time spent moving through Azeroth can create opportunities for interaction, not just delay arrival.
Would Summoning Stones make it easier to reach dungeons?
As a general design trade-off, a teleport or summon feature can reduce the time and coordination needed to assemble a group at a dungeon. The countervailing concern is that making arrival more immediate could reduce the role of travel and the chance of unplanned encounters along the way. Those are competing player priorities, not a measured outcome: Blizzard’s published material does not quantify how Summoning Stones would affect social interaction in this game.

A Blizzard-hosted forum discussion includes players arguing both sides. Some say such access would save time while retaining interaction; others worry it would weaken the value of travel and its social friction. Those comments are player opinions, not a statement of Blizzard policy.
Did Blizzard say quick teleports “shrink the world” or “easily erode” its pillars?
The official pages reviewed establish Blizzard’s broader position that quality-of-life choices can shape social experiences and that the journey and world are central design priorities. They do not contain the exact claims that “easy quick access to teleports shrink the world” or “easily erodes” the pillars. Nor do they directly establish a final Summoning Stones decision in those terms. TechRadar’s October 8, 2026 report quotes Blizzard describing its approach as building on vanilla while staying true to the original game’s design, pacing, and tone, but the cited passage does not verify that exact Summoning Stones wording.

So the defensible answer is that Blizzard has explained why convenience deserves scrutiny in WoW: Forever: it can shape how players travel and interact. The stronger claim that this is Blizzard’s stated reason for excluding Summoning Stones, or a direct quotation about shrinking the world, is not substantiated by the official material cited here.
