Why Asset Trading Could Become More Social: Benjamin Bilski on NAGA

NAGA CEO Benjamin Bilski argued in 2022 that community and trade copying could make trading more participatory. The idea remains a vision, not proof of better results.

Social trading could make investing more participatory by letting people follow other traders, copy their transactions and exchange ideas. That was the vision Benjamin Bilski, NAGA’s co-founder and CEO, described in a January 2022 interview—not a proven forecast that social trading will dominate, or that copying traders improves results.

What did Benjamin Bilski mean by a social trading future?

In an interview published by TechBullion on January 24, 2022, Bilski argued that social features could make trading more engaging and accessible. “We believe the social aspect just makes trading so much better,” he said. That is his view of the opportunity, not an independently established conclusion about the industry.

Bilski described NAGA’s ambition as bringing multiple investor needs into one account: trading, communication, copying other users, education, events, payments and a card. He likened the concept to “Facebook in the trading industry.” The analogy expresses the company’s aspiration; it does not establish NAGA’s reach, product quality or competitive position.

How does social trading work?

Following and copying traders

The central feature Bilski discussed was NAGA Autocopy: a user selects another trader and the platform automatically copies that person’s trades. He presented copying as a way for less experienced users to learn from experienced traders, while popular investors could earn copy bonuses. The interview provides no evidence that copied strategies are profitable, suitable for an individual, or less risky than making independent trades.

Community and learning features

NAGA’s current German-language company page describes a platform where users can connect, copy trades, collaborate and post analysis, trade ideas and live commentary. It describes follower, leader and creator roles and says users can stop copying. These are company descriptions of available features, not independent evidence of users’ outcomes or learning gains.

Why might the approach appeal to newer investors?

The model combines market activity with social cues: users can see other traders’ ideas and activity rather than approaching every decision alone. That may make an unfamiliar platform feel more approachable, and community discussion can expose users to perspectives they might not otherwise encounter.

But visibility is not the same as expertise. A trader’s past activity does not establish future performance, and a copier may have different goals, finances or tolerance for loss. NAGA itself warns that users can copy inexperienced or unprofessional traders, or people whose aims or financial circumstances differ from their own. Social features may help users exchange information; they cannot determine whether a trade suits a particular person.

What did NAGA offer then, and what does it describe now?

The figures in the 2022 interview and on NAGA’s current site refer to different dates and should not be treated as a like-for-like measure of growth. TechBullion described NAGA at the time as a German social-trading platform that began as an online multi-asset broker in 2015. It listed forex, cryptocurrencies, stocks, commodities, ETFs and CFDs among the offerings, and said the platform had more than 950 trading instruments. Bilski said it had more than one million customers in over 100 countries; that was his statement in the interview.

NAGA’s current German-language page lists more than 1,000 CFDs across forex, indices, commodities, stocks and crypto, and more than 3,000 real stocks and ETFs. Those are current company-listed product counts, not a guarantee that each instrument is available to every user. Product availability and counts can change.

The same page headline claims more than 2.6 million users, but a lower-page community counter on that page shows a conflicting 0.6 million-plus figure amid other malformed counters. The user total is therefore not reliable enough to present as settled.

What are the risks of copying trades or trading CFDs?

Copying trades does not transfer responsibility for the decision to someone else. Before following a trader, consider what they trade, how much risk their strategy takes, whether trades are copied proportionally, what control you have over open positions, and whether you can stop copying. NAGA says copying can be stopped, but users should check the actual settings and terms for the entity serving their location.

CFDs require particular caution. NAGA’s current warning says CFDs are complex products and that leverage can cause rapid losses. The company page displays that 77.41% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. That is NAGA’s provider-specific warning figure as displayed on its German-language page accessed October 5, 2026; it can change and should be checked again before publication or use. The percentage is not an estimate of any individual’s outcome.

Does social trading make regulation more important?

In the interview, Bilski said he was open to greater regulation and argued that it could support security and fairer user experiences. He also described becoming a “Popular Investor” as requiring a trader to trade well and build trust and an audience. These are his opinions and description of NAGA’s program, not independent validation of traders’ skill or a guarantee of regulatory protection.

Regulatory coverage depends on the company entity and the customer’s jurisdiction. NAGA’s current page identifies NAGA Markets Europe Ltd as authorized by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission under license 204/13, and lists separate entities for South Africa, the UAE and Seychelles. It says the European entity serves EEA residents except Belgium and notes region-specific restrictions. That does not mean one regulator, one set of protections or universal availability applies worldwide. Check the legal entity and terms that apply in your country.

Can NAGA Coin still reduce social-trading fees?

Bilski said in 2022 that paying social-trading fees with NAGA Coin could reduce them by more than 50%, and that further uses for the coin would come later. This is a historical claim from the interview, not confirmation of a current fee offer or token utility. Check NAGA’s current fee schedule and terms rather than relying on that figure.

Is social trading the future of asset trading?

The interview makes a case for why a platform might combine trading with community, copying and education. NAGA’s current page shows that the company continues to market those features. Neither source establishes that social trading produces better returns, makes trading safer, or will become the dominant model. The future-facing claim is best understood as Bilski’s 2022 vision; for users, the practical question is whether a platform’s social tools, costs, instruments and legal protections fit their needs and risk tolerance.
