When a Sim cannot start sleeping
Check whether the bed is reachable
Try selecting a bed the Sim can access. EA’s March 2023 patch notes say that when a Sim cannot reach a bed to sleep or nap, the game should display a message that they cannot get there. If you see that message, move objects that may be blocking access and try again. The notes establish the access feedback, but do not give a complete list of possible obstructions. If the Sleep interaction is missing
An EA Forums report describes Sleep disappearing after a Sleepover Party, but a player report does not establish a general cause or an EA-confirmed fix. As basic checks, save and reload the game, then check for available updates. These steps are not confirmed remedies for that specific report. When a Sim wakes up repeatedly
Look for a TV or radio playing near the bed. EA’s May 2026 update notes say Sims woken by nearby devices will turn them off and return to sleep. If the behavior continues, check that the update is installed for your game; the notes do not establish that every player on every platform has received it. EA’s May 2026 update notes.

When an exhausted Sim gets into bed, then collapses
EA’s May 2026 update notes describe a fix for exhausted Sims who got into bed but still collapsed. Check your installed game version against the current platform-specific updates. If the issue persists on your current version, record what happened and report it to EA support or the official forums rather than assuming a universal workaround. EA’s May 2026 update notes.
When two romantic Sims will not sleep together
EA documented a problem where romantic partners got out of bed when both were instructed to sleep at the same time. Its May 2026 notes also mention “Sleep and Cuddle” for the Lovestruck case. If the interaction fits your situation, try that option and confirm your game has the relevant update. EA’s May 2026 update notes.

Check whether the Sim is a Murphy Bed ghost
A ghost who died by being crushed by a Murphy Bed cannot sleep in beds or sleeping bags by design. EA says these ghosts restore Energy by possessing other Sims, so another bed will not solve this particular case. EA’s guide to ghosts.

EA describes naps as a shorter Energy boost, not an interaction intended to fill the Energy need completely. If your Sim’s Energy is still low after a nap, that alone does not mean sleep is broken. EA’s May 2026 update notes.

What to include in a bug report
If none of these situations fits, provide diagnostic details when asking EA support or posting on an official forum. These are useful details, not an official required checklist:
- Your platform and installed game version.
- Whether mods or custom content are present.
- Whether the Sleep interaction is missing, or starts and then cancels.
- Whether the issue began after a particular event or update.
- The steps that reproduce the problem.
Why the installed version matters
EA’s May 2026 update notes document several sleep-related changes, while its roadmap described planned work on sleeping behavior and autonomy from March through August 2026. A roadmap records plans, not proof that a change reached every platform or save. The available notes do not identify the latest platform-specific patch number, so check EA’s current notes and your installed build before relying on a fix. EA’s 2026 roadmap.
